Have any you got any experience with video door entry systems? You know, the ones where you can see the person at the door via a screen and talk to them on a handset before you let them in? We had an incident couple of days ago at home where some random stranger was banging on our front door demanding to be let in. I wasn't home at the time, but my misess was really shaken up by this as he was quite persistant.

Appreciate any recommendations

cheers - had a look but couldn't find it on maplin. I'm looking for something thats hopefully vandal resistant, and a small-ish door bell bit. some of the ones i've seen have a doorbell similar size to the main handset!

Do you have an outside light? Reason I ask is the cheaper end ones are very poor in low light conditions.

A simple spyhole is cheap, vandal proof, requires no electricity and is a far better option than an expensive videolink to talk across a distance of a couple of bricks.

We have a spyhole - the incident in question, the guy was trying to look through the letter box and talk to my misses that way. She intially went to look through the spyhole when this happened! I'm getting a letter box cover that allows letters to drop down but no-one to see in, and the video entry system to allow us to talk without being near the door.

Will be installing an external PIR light too.

cheers

We use the BPT products in a professional capacity for gate entry and the like.

Good quality, not cheap though.
