Need a low five-figure sum from my bank of 25 years (never had any real issues with them) and not having done this before, just wanted to know in days or weeks how long this sort of thing takes?

It would be re-paid in a month.

Thanks

I borrowed a couple of thousand from my bank to buy a car at short notice and they gave me the money the same day.

Re-paid within a month?

Could you get your credit card limit extended for this, assuming you have one? Then you'll have no interest to pay.

Same day usually; assuming you have the account with them. Sounds like you do.

It used to be worryingly easy, but it might be a bit trickier in the current economic climate.

The loan I got from my online banking was just over £10k, which basically involved logging in, clicking a button and typing how much I wanted. Money was in my bank account instantaneously!

No bank is going to set up a personal loan for a month. You need an overdraft.

Don't whatever you do tell them it's for a month, take it over 3 years then repay it within 28 days as you are allowed to under the consumer credit act, it will be massively cheaper.
