Hit a squirrel on the way to work this morning, which was novel.
Little beggar shot out of garden gate at somewhere around mach 2 and zipped between my wheels.
Felt a thump through the bars and immediately looked back to see it still caning across the road like a bat out of hell.
It must've just clipped the trailing edge of the front wheel I reckon. Lucky little blighter.

Off-road I've had a dog chase me one time. Couldn't get away with any speed as my front wheel was FUBAR with a couple of snapped spokes and it was a narrow wooded singletrack. Little git jumped up and bit me on the knee, at which point I managed to administer a gentle kick to persuade it to off.
Also had a few close calls with deer over the years...

resurgance of red squirrels up here, so much so we have renamed a local run mount squirrel in honour of the wee red bugger who attacked (tear in eye) my pal whilst on a ride last year. it was like the white rabbit from the Life of Brian... they move so quick!
oh and chased by a capercallie (big black scottish bird about the size of a turkey) once, frightening and scary at the same time...
did the squirrel survive?
