Strange one this morning.

I live in a block of flats in the middle of a nice town.

Its right in the centre and each morning, there are litter pickers, road sweepers and bin men working hard to keep the streets clean.

This morning, I picked up a tesco bag full of junk and walked up the high street(past a mechanical street sweeper) and put it in one of the bins.

The next thing I hear is

'What the f*cuk do you think your doing. Don't be putting your rubbish in this bin. Fu8cking use your own bin.' He continued in this vain for about 30 seconds and luckily I was late otherwise I may have retaliated in some way.

Turns out the sweeper rider chap who works for VE***A didn't like the fact I was putting household rubbish (only a small bag) into a public bin. Granted, maybe I should have used my flat bins but I was late and they are 100metres the other way. Plus, its better than half of the other fkwits who just litter the street.

Still, I was realy taken aback by the guys attitude and general behaviour.

Should I report this buffoon or allow him to carry on his vigilante abuse?

Careful - it is indeed illegal to place household rubbish in a public bin

You should have told him you picked it up down the road and were tidying it up. Had he not missed the bag you wouldnt have to do his job, so perhaps he could occasionally look at the street, rather than* a)Page 3, b)The sky or c) schoolchildren.

  • depending on how much he annoyed you.

If he had been polite he may have had a point. However. I think it very rare that one can smile and gently say, "I hope you won't be offended if I don't take too much notice of a what a street sweeper thinks?" before walking off.

In fact I don't think I would manage to say that, too harsh for the situation, but would be pretty damn effective I think!

True, but they have no evidence it was household rubbish even from lookin through it as it was mainly rubbish from my car and tissue! So, not really traceable.

Digger.

Even though i live/work as a caretaker in one of the wealthiest areas in Central London, in a mews, so i guess no bins allowed, the other residents leave their rubbish on the ground by our garage doors, so I always do what the OP did, and every day on my walk to the shops, my rubbish gets dumped into a council street bin. Saves littering street, and attracting vermin etc.

Presumably he hurled abuse because if more people did that then the bins would have to be emptied quicker and/or they would overflow and street cleaner operative would have more work to do. Would probably annoy me too if in their shoes regardless of what people think of the "you get paid to do your job etc" brigade.

I would have thought so, if parked on your property. Cant stand it when I see car door open and fag butts etc spill onto road/pavement. Lazy gits!

You should have:

Stuck your tongue between bottom lip and teeth and said:

"I'm a thpacker and I'm a jobthworth dickthplash that workth the binth!"

And walked off.

not that there is owt wrong with working the bins...there is being a jobsworth though.

You did a good deed, and the sweeper guy - well, they aren't exactly renowned for their intelligence are they...?

(Disclaimer for the Daily Mail readers: What's that word for when you tar everyone with the same brush and make sweeping generalised statements? Anyway - Shut up.)

Easy, you should have picked up the rubbish bag, opened it up and threw it all over the street.

Your welcome......

Good advice guys, thought I hadn't done anything that warranted that kind of response.

Perhaps tomorrow, I might go with a few more bags(joke)

The correct response is to take the piss out of him for being a binman. If you didn't have the stones to do it to his face (and you didn't, lets face it) then don't grass him up like some spod at school telling teacher.

I would have just said 'sorry I don't understand English do you speak arabic?' (in English) and then taken it from there. The confuse the fk out of them approach always works with fuktards like this guy.
Also if there was nothing identifying the rubbish you could have taken a 'well fk you, you fking fk, what the fk are you going to fking do about it' approach.

I know, nothing wrong with it but if I was being sworn at I would have given him some grief back rather than going snivelling to his boss to try and get him in trouble.
