Good on the man! He's an absolute legend. I remember meeting him at the age of 5 at company event when my old man used to work for Little Chef.
I also wrote in for Jim'll Fix It to fly on Concorde, but I never got my "fix". I did however get a hand written reply letter which my mum found before they moved abroad in the clear-out!

Can't see what all the fuss is about...he's waved a few cars past.......
However,I agree he is a legend though, had a hard life...been a Bevin boy down the pits, been a professional wrestler etc, and superfit, doing umpteen marathons in his sixties and seventies.........
A real star......

A real star......
I did exactly the same a few weeks ago when a cyclist was hit by a car at a junction near where I live. It was a way I could help and no big deal. Did it warrant press attention? Of course not, it was just something one does when the situation demands.
Hardly the thing of legend.

If any of us tried that we'd probably be branded 'local nutter' and arrested for impersonating a police officer.
He was given the high visibility vest by the police when they arrived. If any of us tried that we'd probably be branded 'local nutter' and arrested for impersonating a police officer.

I think you miss the whole point. If you look back at his life, he IS a legend. This was just one of his many additions... Hardly the thing of legend.

Agreed.Hardly the thing of legend.
A few years back a car went though the side of someones house on the main A12. While other people were helping the occupants of car I was directing the main traffic until the emergency services arrived.
