We have a Triton power shower that has developed a fault. When switching it on it works fine for about a minute or so, then the water cuts off but the pump still runs. The fault finding says to contact the water supplier but I cannot believe it can be related as there are no problems with the bath or sinks. I am thinking something in the shower itself is at fault, but any suggestions will be investigated. smile

If you comission it again does the water flow freely ? Could be the pump is fecked ? Or maybe if its thermostatic its cutting off as a safety thing ?

I got a Triton AS2000 XT (I think thats right off the top of my head) and i had the exact same thing brand new out of the box. Called the triton engineer out under warranty and swapped the pump and its been fine ever since. It does drain the hot water cylinder in a matter of minutes though. Is it a powerful one ?

I think the OP has either a low voltage or pumped shower which has feeds from hot and cold.

Benlg81, yours sounds like it was probably a 10.5KW shower, cold water feed and was wired in 6.0mm cable instead of 10.0mm which would account for the lower rated fuse/mcb.

Get you local plumber in for the pumped shower as could be a pressure related problem, they can test it.

gsw500 that was the problem so i just ended up going for a lower rated shower much better than rewire

Ben,

Glad to hear it, many a time I've found 10.5KW showers wired in 4.0mm and 6.0mm with a higher rated fuse/mcb which is a big nono

The only problem you may find with an 8.5KW shower is that if you like hot showers when you turn it up to get hotter you could probably p*ss quicker.

At least you took the safer option. thumbup

I always thought electric showers ran directly from a cold mains supply??

I only ask because I'm thinking of putting one in in the not too distant future.

Yes. But there are electric showers that heat the water and electric showers that just pump the water.

The pumped variety have hot and cold feeds, hence why the tank is draining.

HTH.

I commisioned it again this morning and the water ran freely. It is a thermostatic shower so I guess I'll call a plumber and see if he can work out if it's the pump or thermostat.
