my first electric shaver...
Discussion
I've just turned 40 and thought an electric shaver might be in order, especially as im about to start applying for jobs so should be popping along for interviews n that soon., im thinking my chin needs a little tidying..
ive been using 'hair clippers' on said chin for about 20 years. ive had about 4 wet shaves in all that time, so ive been a bit stubbly most of my adult life. Ive never bought an electric shaver so i thought i'd get some advice off the hairy PH massive. I think im wanting a mains and rechargeable one. Ive got very peachy, delicate skin..... any recommendations gents?

only decent electric shaver I've ever come across is my Dads, which is an original philishave. Only problem is it's about 40 years old! All the modern ones tend to be 3v and are absolute crap. No power in the motors if you have anything more than bum-fluff for a beard, and low RPM makes them painful to use even if they can cope.
I find it amusing how buying an electric shaver can compell a person to become so excited that he must share the fact of such with an online community of pistonhead hooligans LOL
I only say this because last night I decided to say screw it and buy my first real expensive 5 blade shaver. Not electric, but 5 blade. Usually I just buy the cheap disposable 1-2 blade ones. And let me say, WOW, what a difference 3 more blades make! I literally chopped my shaving time down in half, AND I am not left with a gazillion blood spots all over ym neck. Less friction, I only have to go over a spot ONCE.
I never bought them before because I couldnt justify spending $12.00 on a stick with razors on the end

I'd be interested to hear from people that use electric ones that work, I have a lazyness / neck issue that means I tend to look like a hobo most of the time at the moment.
I heard some good things about a Braun one a while back?
I have the same issue but a new job forced me to have to shave daily. After a couple of weeks of using it, the face gets used to an electric razor. Still not as good as a wet shave but the results are 'adequate enough' for work.I heard some good things about a Braun one a while back?
I use a philishave btw.

Get one of the Philishaves with the Nivea moisturiser thing.
Not as close as a wet shave but it doesn't make your neck look like Freddie Kruger's been at it either.

Proper good bit of kit if not a little pricey.
I find the shave to be just as good as a wet shave.
It still gives a good shave without them though plus you can clean it under the taps.

Now you see, I've tried the 5 blade one and found it sI only say this because last night I decided to say screw it and buy my first real expensive 5 blade shaver. Not electric, but 5 blade. te.I've gone back to my trusty Mach 3, as I found the 5 bladed Fusion had the blades far too close together and I could never 'bang out' the hair or swill it out in the sink.
With the Mach 3 being slightly wider spaced, the hairs come out easier, and so I get a better, less painful shave.
Wet shave all the way for me, tried a decent elec shaver and found it ripped me to pieces, and so I went back to wet.
I don't know whether its me, but I find that the shavers/fine bladed razors can't handle the thicker hairs: Is it just me?
I had a Remington for years, then a Braun, and now another Braun. All 'foil' style shavers. Each have lasted some six-eight years, with maybe a fresh foil in that period.
I would say that all of them are fine for a daily shave unless you are some kind of baboon. Yes, a wet shave is closer to the touch and I do keep one about, but it is a PITA by comparison, especially when edging sideburns/goatees.
Ignore the snobs and try one!
