for the tenth time in as many weeks, I've had to call the Council to book their cleansing van to come out. Previously it's been a plastic bag's worth of empty tins, cartons, usual take outside & get p1ssed clobber. This time some little scrote has take somebody's large grey wheelie bin & tipped it up right alongside my house.

So, called Council again. Ask them what can be done, apart from just tidying. They tell me the police may have some surveillance facility. Police tell me they dont, but the council may. etc etc. Doing circles at the moment waiting to hear back.

What can I reasonably expect from council/cops?? If it was still just a few things, I'd clean it up myself - which I've done twice now. Horrible job but it really effs me off looking out the window & seeing the mess. While back there was a used condom. Lovely.

Are there no letters, invoices or correspondances within all the rubbish that ID the scumbag?

So fat no, and this time I've left as is - however I suspect it wouldnt be the sods own bin just one he's picked on.

This is one option I've thought about, could cost a bit though.

It's a council responsibility, not the police. Contact your councillor(s) and show them the rubbish, get them to put pressure on their officers to take more robust action.

I'd advise against picking it up it yourself, you don't know what it may contain.

Is this like cow-tipping but much more delicate?

Just set up your own camera.

Can't really expect the police to sit and wait for them to come back. Plus is happens all over.

If you catch them, do try and follow them, then fly tip a petrol bomb or two on their home.

Depends on your council. Some are exceptionally good at dealing with fly tipping and will do all they can to identify and prosecute the culprits. Others. less so.

The police generally only get involved at the request of the council or if the rubbish is commercial waste.

If you have no luck with the district/borough council, badger your parish/town council.

Set up your own camera, if your get their plate details you could plant some materials in the bag that may be of interest to the security services.

I don't know maps of london, list of MPs etc enough to drop them in it.

cant imagine why

you have to pay council to collect your rubbish (via council tax)
they move to two week collections, you have no choice
they fine you if you overfill your bin, which you have to now because they only collect fortnightly

or you dump some stuff on somebody else

it's ...ing nu labia

If you want to fly tip succesfully then you need to temporarily blank out your number plate and make sure the crap you're dumping is free of anything that might identify you.

I find the best times are later in the evening and in places where people don't expect it ie a local beauty spot or someone's private land.

If anyone needs anything shifting then you can PM me- £150 a transit load unless it's asbestos then it's £300.

I work for a local city council, in the dept. which runs refuse and recycling. The Contact centre staff are usually well trained. The enforcement team(where i work) do come down very hard on fly-tippers and other unscrupulous peasants. So just be patient and try and find the name of the manager/supervisor who runs the dept. and send a letter to them.

  • edit you are not alone with your problems, fly-tipping c0ck's are the bain of every council's life along with dole scum and methedone addicts.

Fly tipping is on the increase all over the country. Every time I go somewhere I seem to see stuff at the side of the road.

With less collections, refusing to remove the rubbish if your bin lid doesn't close. Can't take vans to the tip.

It's a shame that the coucils policy is if you don't fit our demagraphic then stuff you. But that ends up making the problem worse.

My council seems encourage one day strikes with the bin men, so we have been on one collection a month over the last few months. The smell is quite interesting, not to mention the queues at the 'recycling' centre...frown

i wholly dis-agree when you can't take your rubbish to the tip without a licence.
my yard is full of st and i have to pay a substantial amount of money to even get it taken away.

Well, true to their word the Reading Streetcare van-man was here this morning to tidy up the little loves' mess. Still awaiting contact from the Council, will give it a couple of days & then remind them that they're ringing me.
