Quite why these dogs are still breathing when in such pain is beyond me.

Not really a joking matter this subject, and so I've edited the thread title.

I hope that we all watch and learn, as I've spent 4 years listening to my missus (an RSPCA and now private vet) complaining about pedigree dogs and certain breeders.

She (and I) are not saying all breeders are as bad, but some are intent on nigh on cruelty in order to get the ideal looking dogs.

Even just your normal Labrador and Retrievers suffer from Hip Dysplasia - a direct result of inbreeding.

Fashion gone mad?

Not saying this on the basis of the few minutes of this program, have thought it for a while.

I would quite happily take that GSD judge outside and beat the living daylights out of him. People shouldn't be able to inflict this cruelty of Dogs. They're animals not Art FFS furious

One of the most saddening pieces of film I have watched.

I grew up in a family that bred Setters and attended shows for the right reason.

Dogs are meant to be man's best friend, not a vehicle for profit or ego.

Good lord I'm getting a little angry now: re the Rodesian Ridgeback breeders.

Good on the BBC for showing this, and exposing it properly.

I am shocked with what I have seen so far, some of the owners need putting down with the poor dogs. On a side note, didn't realise Mark Evans (of discovery channel fame) was chief vet to RSPCA.

Absolutely. If the breeders feel this strongly then by all mean newter the ridgless pups but to put down healthy animals just because of they way they look is disgraceful.

The scary thing is: I knew all this through my missus - however its the attitude of the breeders that is getting me.

Same here all the breeders seem shot away, have not seen one talk with an ounce of common sense yet.

What's shocking is the way the pedigree breeds look nothing like they used to 100 years ago.

We bought our second Lab as a Pedigree, to REDUCE the risk of Hip Dysplasia. I'll never have another pedigree dog again having seen this.
