Is it just me or, watching the news at ten, main story.... team gb wins more gold ,a man in a boat and a drugs cheat, given a full ten minutes of how we should all feel good despite almost rampant inflation and the daily body count from knife crime, followed by a paltry couple of minutes about a minor conflict in Ossettia that could ultimatly force major powers into major conflict,Does anyone else see anything wrong here?

I`m not detracting from any Athletes effortsbut surely the slaughter of thousands should take precedence over a gold medal in a ying ling ???
Its a rarity that the news isn't scaremongering and creating problems to everything in life. Just for stories.Excellent news, it's not a crime to report on good things.
The media only show the bad things that effect us, a lot worse things go on that they ignore.

I agree with you. I don't understand it at all. A bunch of nutters, who have spent the last four years having no social life, no curries, and no booze, training all day every day, to go to a far away land and try and prove that they're the 'best' at something.....And we in this country are somehow supposed to be proud of our country because some bloke or women we don't know, who happens to be from another part of this country of 60 million people, has won a medal at something?

What a total waste of time!

And what about Pakistan and India too.
As much as the Olympics are great (and it's wonderful to see our success), I can't help but feel the world falling apart in our hands is slightly more important (IMHO, of course).
Why is it falling apart 'in our hands'? There is only so much we can do before we (as a country) implode through neglecting our own interests. Success in the Olympics does boost morale at a time when there is precious little else to celebrate. As much as the Olympics are great (and it's wonderful to see our success), I can't help but feel the world falling apart in our hands is slightly more important (IMHO, of course).
