I hate to say this, but I think I've just found a bit of respect for the Downing Street pen-pushers.

It seems they have a sense of humour after all. There again, what else could explain Gordon Brown.

Says the video is no longer available to me. It seems that pretty much everything I want to watch at the moment on Youtube is no longer available! Bar Stewards.

Interesting and a little funny, but you do all realise we've paid some total cock to sit there and produce that!

Would've been funnier to have GB doing donuts in a TVR shouting "POWWWEEERR!" with the tagline "Gordon's just as good".

It also would've been just as pointless.

Addmittedly, I had hoped for something with a little more 'content', but at least it showed a bit of humour. I thought it was going to be 'The United Kingdom has a system of democratically elected government, which means that Mr Clarkson could stand as a political candidate and would theoretically be elligible for the office of prime minister' or some such bks.

So... not as funny as it could have been, but pretty good for civil servants! thumbup

Posted on 10DowningSt's YouTube account, and I (along with everyone who signed the petition) got an e-mail from 10 Downing Street telling us they'd responded, with a link to the reponse on their website.

I thought it was a bit weak TBH, they could have gone to town with this one using loads of Un PC stuff that Clarkson says - mind you for most people that would seem like an argument for Clarkson, oh well...

I hope Top Gear pick up on this and do a better version.

"But the Tories said it showed the government had lost touch with reality. "

And I say this shows how the Tories don't have a sense of humour.

I wonder if any taxpayers' money was spent producing this humourless response? wink

ETA: I mean the conservatives humourless response to the video of course, the video being mildly amusing.
