I have done it to my car. The kit came from race precision in the states. However their suggested place to fit it does not work on a car with a Roush exhuast (like mine).

Mine is fitted just next to the radiator. I have a couple of pic's I can send you if you are interested? The cooler works really, the temps are staying below 100 all the time on track! smile

Here is the kit http://www.raceprecision.com/forums/viewtopic.php?... My friend went to see them in the states a few weeks back and had a look at one being fitted, he said they are a pain to fit under the engine bay so may be better up front near the rad? In which case you wouldn't need the whole kit!

Have a chat with one of these guys as they might be able to give you some advice.

you could try a bottle of Water Wetter first - it will keep the water and oil temps cooler

i think Demo Tweeks sell it

would be interested to see how you get on

I have a Laminova water to oil cooler fitted to my car. I ordered it from Race Precision in the US and installed it myself. To be honest it was a real pain to fit, but got there eventually after having to re bend some of the aluminum coolant pipes that came with it.

The main problem was caused by the kit being designed for a standard exhaust and the Roush having a joining flange in the way of where the coolant pipes was supposed to go. In hindsight I should have either fitted it at the front near the radiator or in the tunnel at the rear.

I'm pleased with the coolers performance with temperatures keeping below 90-100 DegC even with track day sessions, suppose you could say I'm not trying hard enough though... biggrin

Anyway, I'll email you a copy of the install pictures from Race Precision to give you a better idea.

On my M400 I had my oil-cooler turned through 90 degrees, had 2 fans fitted and slats inserted into the wheel-arch liner so that the heat had somewhere else to go rather than back into the engine compartment!I find that the only time the fans are needed is when I am on track (which is quite a lot of the time). Holds oil temp to max of 110 even on v hot days on track. The fans are wired to the 'spare switch' on the centre console so that I can control when they should go on or off. Very simple conversion, but the fans are necessary as almost no air gets into the side-pods at 70 and above. If you're racing then the best solution is to front mount the oil-cooler.
Just need to do something similar for the gearbox oil-cooler now.

My car was used to develop the kit by RPI. We first tried to make it fit in the tunnel, as it was the most logical, simplistic "in line" solution. But the problem was the oil lines connect perpendicular to the long laminova cooler, and when the 90 deg fittings are attached, its impossible to fit back into the narrow tunnel (the overall width increases quite a bit). From my experience, it works great, and spot on 90-100C max temps most of the time. I went to the track in about 40C temps, and it hit 110. The nobles radiator has a lot of capacity. Never saw water temps rise at all either. I dont track the car much, and definitely there are way better drivers than me that could push it.

An added bonus is oil temps rise faster as the hot water will be circulated thru the oil on cold start. Should mean less wear, possibly?

It's simple and it works (idea nicked from Paul Cundy).

My car has the RPI kit, although if you have the Roush exhaust it needs modding to fit.
