Shock Absorbers

Hi,

New on here, but I need to replace front shock absorbers on a 2001 Tuscan as one has a slight leak.

What type do I need to get and where can I buy them from? I'll then give them to the local garage for fitting to keep the costs down.

The car has done well to get this far, my standard shocks became shocking (read that leaking) after just 2 years. Nitrons seem to be the popular choice, thats what I went for after reading the many suspension related threads on PH and I can say that they are superb value for performance. They are light years ahead of the standard set up. If you are patient and willing to fiddle you can fnd a setting that really suits. I settled for a relatively soft set up with a slightly raised rear end. Stops the rear exhausts from grounding out with a camping load in the boot but still has great handling round the twisties but most important it doesn't rattle your brain over the bumps and many pot holes in the UK roads. Go for it you will not be disapointed.

Note: For road use you do not need to buy the remote resevoir type, the standard adjustable shock is quite adequate. You can buy direct or the TVR accessory/specialist outlets will provide and fit them... i.e TVRPower, Trackcar Solutions, etc...

I just had nitrons fitted to mine by Racing Green - massive difference to the handling and confidence on bumpy/twisty roads. I have them set mid-way at the moment so will see how they go before making any adjustments.

Mine have also gone. Picked the car up from dulford last night and was advised Racing Reds for Road use. £580 + £200 for fitting and set up.

I had Nitrons put on mine by Racing Green as well. It's a different car to drive altogether. I enquired about other shocks at the time (Gaz, Racing Reds etc) but searching on PH and the recommendation of Racing Green led me to the Nitrons. You really get what you pay for.

It's not that I didn't want to post up the costs on here - you can find out easily enough from their parts website and/or from talking to Martin. However, I had other work done and I don't have the bill in front of me....
