Be interested to know more. The driver is being done for dangerous driving. Given he's on a motorway slip road, you'd expect the speed to be quite high, so I wonder what he did that resulted in him being arrested.

The driver has not been 'done' for anything yet as such. I believe that the Police now will ALWAYS arrest a driver where a death has occured on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. It's policy, so that immediate investigation and evidence gathering can take place. He may or may not be charged later on. Unless anyone can correct me? Very sad story.

There was something similar onone of those police shows. A bloke hit a lad on the motorway. He was charged with something whilethe police investigated. Eventually they decided he just would not have had enough time from seeing the guy in the road to stopping. And the charges were obviously dropped. That was at night although this "could" be simiar. With the speeds people travel at on slip roads and the hard turns some have, he might not have had time to stop from when she came into view.
However given her husband was passing it sounds more like it's near the junction for a slip road...

Sympathies for the loss of life, but why was she crossing a sliproad?
Would that be legal?
there are some sliproads with crossings, the one at kenton bar/kingston park interchange on the A1 at Newcastle for example.. not saying she was in the right though.. tragic either way Would that be legal?

IIRC there the exit sliproads at Junction 9 go straight into roundabouts. There are no pavements on the roundabouts that I can remember so you wouldn't expect to find a pedestrian - not to mention that you're only really looking one way because you're heading onto a roundabout.
Correct - I've used those slip roads both onto and off the M25 at junction 9 (Leatherhead) thousands of times.Heading south: there is no pavement just a long slip down to a roundabout.
Heading north: shorter slip but there is a weigh bridge as you first turn onto the slip that, if you're a lorry, you can nip into. Again, no pavement.
