What if i swapped into my 500 engine a larger capacity blk and (forged) pistons (5.3 ltr?), leaving everything else without any mod? what would eventually be the power/torque increases?

You'd end up with more torque, but little extra bhp i suspect.Youd also have a 5.3 engine developing no where near it's potential.Personally i'd spend the cash on releasing the potential of the 5.0 engine.

Have you thought of fitting some tuned manifolds? Have a look at http://www.v8enhancements.co.uk
Look at the power graphs.

Yeaa...but i want an easy mod out of the box, i guess to get 345hp fm the 5 ltr you need to go aftermarket ecu, more radical cams and plenty of headhaking (...and expensive) mods, am i wrong?boxedin

Slightly O/T. When we say we'd like more power, is it really torque we're after? Which is it that gives us that satisfying push in the back?

I personally like both...the mid range push tipical of large displacement engines and a bit more of urgency also on top end...

I like my torque biased towards the top end,ie more peak bhp.I always wanted my power with the RV8 to peak as far up the revs as was practical,as the way i saw it you already had plenty low down!It is the low down torque that gives you the shove in the back from a standstill, but If my Tuscan only tought me one thing,it was that i really wanted my power high up the revs.My tuscan never felt quicker than my std griff off the line, but in reality it was a much quicker car,and just kept going well after the Griff ran out of puff!
Pasco,shoutcan i give you a call later,please mate?

I notice a similar thing with my T350 and SEAC or when following Tuscans in SEAC or Griffith 500 ..

The S6 engined cars - could out accelelate the RV8 cars out of corners .. and his I believe is down to having a top end punch with less low down torque.. more like a race engine.
