Having the 'Snip'
Discussion
Just been back for my second test and confirmed 'Azoospermic'.....meaning no more little swimmers

Definately one of my wiser moves, my experience through it has been surprisingly good. I Initially requested the op when my mrs was 6 months gone with our second- we both went and made it very clear that its what we wanted. The doctor referred me straight away and I was booked in for the op before she dropped.
I Had the laser surgery....apparently its less invasive/traumatic. I'd recommend it to anyone who's a bit jumpy about getting it done, there's no stitches or anything involved. They burn a hole in your sack (afterward it looks about the size of a fag burn) and stretch it open (after anaesthetic of course). Then the surgeon fishes out the 'tube' from each nut, one at a time and snips it with scissors, then cauterises the ends with the laser.
After its all tucked away, thats it. No stitches, just an instruction to keep it clean and watch for infection etc.
I Walked out of there less than 2 hours after going in.
Its not all rosy though. The anaesthetic did wear off. I Made sure I was dosed up with Co-Codamol painkillers. It wasnt as bad as I was expecting, probably cos everyone had been winding me up about it lol. The day after I experienced mild discomfort but didnt really struggle. It was like having a mild groin strain I suppose. Day 2 passed equally as well, with the 8-month preggers Mrs waddling round (she was carrying a ten-pounder) doing her best to alleviate my suffering (yes, I played it a bit. Guilty as charged.)
Day 3, Monday (op was a friday). Back to work. Now I figured from day 2 i'd get better. Wrong. The only way I could describe it would be to say it felt like someone has tried to pull my inner workings out. It was like a strain, but very internal, I assume from where he'd been tugging the 'tubes' that run back up inside to the bits that make you spaff. That wasnt nice. Dont get me wrong, I wasnt doubled over or in unbearable agony it was more discomfort or a little painful when moving about.....maybe I went back to work too soon!
Day 4, Improved on day 3 but not as good as 2. The internal strain feeling was till there but reduced and it continued to improve over the next few days, and after day 4 didnt worry me at all.
The fag burn took about a week to heal over properly so I made sure it was cleaned and looked after and I had no issues.
Day 5 was the first 'test fire' LOL. Great care was needed as overenthusiasm may have resulted in a painful knock to the gonads which wouldnt have been funny.
I dont know what I was expecting, or not expecting to see jazz-wise but it looks exactly the same as before. No difference in any noticeable way.
Overall, its definately one of my better moves getting this done. My Mrs is more fertile than a sackful of horny bunnies and both our 2 have been concieved while using contraception. The trade off of a few days discomfort for the knowledge I can stick it wherever, whenever without worrying about another bump is well worth it. I think if it worked that way, i'd happily get it done annually.....thats the sort of peace of mind it gives you.
So- Laser Vasectomy. Its a Winner!
Anyone else got any opinions/experiences on the subject?

It is something that has been under discussion in the Meeja household for a while - the decriptive nature of the OP's original post is actually very useful.
Problem for us is that a degree of broodiness still pops into the household every so often...... so I suspect we need to wait until absolutely certain that it is what we both want.

For sure, don't do it until you're SURE. The doctor wanted certainty and thats what we gave her....even to the point of her asking 'If the baby you're carrying was still born, wouldnt you want to try again?Problem for us is that a degree of broodiness still pops into the household every so often...... so I suspect we need to wait until absolutely certain that it is what we both want.
If they detect any doubt you wont get referred.

No experience here but must have it done,
Would you recommend NHS or Private?
Just had our second and that'll do us so chop it is.
We had it on the NHS, I attended a clinic that was no more than a converted house. Very clean, professional staff. Most impressed with every aspect which was a nice surprise.Would you recommend NHS or Private?

The worst part of the whole experience was back at the hospital for the tests....having to go into that windowless room with a coffee table full of well-thumbed porn mags and smack one off into a tiny sample pot was most unpleasant lol

Did anyone else think of this when they read that;
Christ, I need another coffee now.

I went private with 'Marie Stopes' and it was brill. Back to work in two days.Would you recommend NHS or Private?

My mate Jes (Also on PH) went on the NHS and carried a pair of grapefruits for 3 months and had pain for considerably longer.
There is more than one way of wielding the knife and i would recommend the Marie Stopes system. Its keyhole surgery followed by a laser to 'weld' the pipes. Local anesthetic, you dont even need to be shaved. Cost about £250 back in 2000.
I have much better sex with the wife now. She is an Irish Catholic who didn't like the pill. Now its 'Martini'...Anytime, anyplace, anywhere.......

Risky stuff going for the snip before your wife gave birth IMHO!!!
Why not simply wait until your child was born and then go for it. Unfortunately with complications (goodness forbid), you never know.....
Not at all. We both agreed if the baby died we wouldnt want to try for another and would have settled for the one.Why not simply wait until your child was born and then go for it. Unfortunately with complications (goodness forbid), you never know.....
It was one of the questions we were asked.
Fortunately though, he arrived a healthy 9lb6oz and is currently destroying the house fron ankle height at 8 months old lol

So, let me get this straight... "Functionally" it looks normal, just, you have no sperm, but you can still ejaculate? Forgive the stupidity, not something I have ever considered or looked into (I rely on a stressful job to make me infertile
)
Eggzachary. Looks, Consistency both unchanged. Its still the same old spaff it used to be without the swimmers. I Can't comment on the taste, obviously. If I ever get another blowjob i'll ask the Mrs and get back to you....
