This is real crap , if you want to put a freebie ad on here in the M3 section you might as well forget it.At the moment you have to get past 32 to find one ?

Nah, he's got a point Jamie. If he's getting something for nowt, he's entitled to expect special treatment. If not, he'll take his money elsewhere and where would PH be then? Eh? EH?! Not thought of that had you mate.

Past what, 32 pages? Its 46 pages for me.

Adverts are sorted by advert age too.

If i was buying an M3, i'd look at all of the ads and just discount them due to my critera. Make yours stand out.

Then why complain?

Besides IIRC PHers get special rates?

PH members get free 'paid for' ads, as long as they were signed up prior to the introduction of the premium ad (July IIRC). So most here can get a free ad anyway and be near the top too.

The filtering system needs some work, and we'll look at the ordering structure too.

Regardless, long term PHers do get free premium ads smile

does this make sense? I may have enjoyed too much vin rouge

i have to say that the system has become confusing, a friend of mine yesterday placed an advertisement, so i thought i would have a glance. i couldnt find it, untill 4-5 pages back.
i thought that was strange so i sorted by post code, its still a number of pages back, the first car on that search is hundreds of miles away, when i know that his is 10 away.

basically you have to get through all of the traders ads and the premium ads to find that the search starts all over again for the non premium ads.
not such a big issue for those selling who stump up the cash and or those who are old members, but if i was looking for a car i would assume that all the ads after 2-3 pages back are old, not that i would have to go through all of the premium ones to find a second batch of fresh ads.

I'm afraid I would have to agree. I was a daily visitor to the classifieds section. Particularly as I could immediately find the new ads in a particular section.

Now filtering by advert age doesn't do that and you have to find where the various tiers of ads cut in.

To be honest I haven't got the time or patience to do that anymore. I now have the search details on autotrader saved and it takes me 10 secs to see if anything new has been added.

Its a real shame as I used to recommend the PH classifieds to all my mates and have bought as well as sold cars on here. I understand trying to make money but its been done, IMO, badly and at the expense of the user.

Whenever I browse through the classifieds I always filter to view on Private Ads. The very reason I look through the PH classifieds is so that I can find a car that is likely be enthusiast owned. But these days the majoriy of the ads seem to be traders.

Maybe the cars that traders sell have been enthusiast owned but that enthusiast has used a dealer to buy their new car and so this enthusiast owned car is now being retailed by a dealer. scratchchin

Maybe so but in a lot cases, especially with a lot of the Japanese cars, they have just been bought over, registered, given a clean and put up for sale.

I agree with this.

The administrators have assumed that everyone looking in the classifieds knows what they're looking for. However, I usually look everyday to see if something 'interesting' has been posted that I may want to add to my collection. It could be any make, model, age, price, etc. This used to be easy but not anymore. It's a shame and a greater shame that no one seems to be listening...

I can see why PH has introduced the tiered "premium" ads but it is a pain to have to sift through the ads twice, firstly through the premium ones, then through the non-.

If they are ordered that way as default, no problem, but it would be nice to be able sort them the way you want.
