Basically, we moved out of our rented house a month ago, with the intention of moving into our new house which we where waiting for the sale to go through on, we had to move out as they had new tenants moving in.

We have spent time at both our parents house, but my parents place is far too small, my inlaws place is massive, but the mother inlaw has put the boot in saying that the wife has over stayed her welcome ect, im totally livid!!

We have 3 kids, 7,8 and 2 and a jack russel.

I have no idea what to do, the sale hasnt really progressed yet and ive got to try and sort something today.

I know there's a few landlords on here, has anyone got anything in the south west?

thanks in advance

Nick

Nobody knows, the house was left in the will to my stepfather and we have to buy it to pay the tax, however the executer has been fannying about for months now, it should have been sorted 3 months ago, now it doesnt look like it'll go through untill the end of september.

maybe im just overly freaked out at the moment as ive got alot of stress and this today along with my employers forgetting to pay me my bonus has really not helped. Oh and the fact that my car is costing me a small fortune to put right!

I have no idea what to do, if i rent a house i'll be under contract for 6 months, if we rent a caravan because its peak season it'll be silly expensive.

Usually if your in a real pickle you can turn to your family or friends, our families dont want to know and the only mate with a "spare house" has just let it out

With young kids & a hound temp a/c will be a mare.

Force yourselves into your inlaws big place. Theyv'e got the room, and at least a moral duty to assist the grandkiddies. Sod 'em.

Then get fitting out one of your mahooosive warehouses, or arrange an out-of season (next week) holiday cottage let month by month.

Good luck sorting it.

Can you not rent your stepfather's house untill you are able to buy it? I believe the executor has the discretion. The rental income would go into the estate.

Ive tried that approach with the executor however, if being difficult was an olympic sport he'd surely win gold!

Good idea on the out of season stuff, i'll have a phone around in an hour when im on lunch.

I would force my way into the inlaws, but she has the ability to make me see red at the drop of a hat, i really dont want to fall out with them as i'd like a fairly hassle free life but i just cant help myself and once i get started that'd be it.

Im so shocked at her attitude, i know its my fault as i was short sighted, but i couldnt forsee the current predicament and it certainly wasnt intentional.

What an odd choice, then.

My brother and I are the main beneficiaries in my father's will, and he has named us jointly as the executors.

Of course, he will be leaving a very small estate. At the moment, it is worth exactly £311,999.99 hehe

Short term option could be a holiday cottage somewhere local. We nearly had to use this option for various reasons. Quite common apparently as you can rent on a week by week basis.

Sounds a bit daft but you say your in the south west .... haven for caravan holidays /mobile homes try a local holiday site for renting a chalet or mobile home as it is with out long term tenancy and they are reasonably cheap,
i know st idea but just a thought.

its peak season at the moment, which means £300 plus a week frown

I feel really bad, as i work away during the week, im not experiencing what my wife is, im sure the kids have no idea, but she has the stress of the kids and no where to live. Im thinking i should take some of the holiday i was saving for xmas to sort things out and at least be with her.

Yes I think that would be a good start. Go and see the inlaws on your way back and 'have a word'.

Wife and kids go stay with MIL. You and the Jack Russel go camping in a mates garden for a few weeks.

Find a holiday cottage, and negotiate a cheaper rate for a few weeks.

I have no idea what to do,
(1) Handcuff the mother in law

(2) Lock her in cellar / garage / loft / greenhouse / shed, with a fellow rat

(3) Feed her nuts

(4) Let her out when your new house is ready

(5) Give her a hamster as a thank you present

I thin travel lodge allows dogs... a large number of hotels/motels in the UK now do. - just a useful bit of info.

lol, its only been the wife and kids staying at the MIL's place. If i have a word it'll end up worse than it is and wont acheive anything.

inlaws place is in south wales, i work in oxford so any where around the M4 is fine really as long as its not massively expensive smile

Just re-read this bit. You'd see your wife, young kids & dog in a caravan or B+B just to uphold your 'hassle free life' by not upsetting your MIL?

As they say here, grow a pair, take the holiday time now, swallow some pride and go and get it sorted with the MIL.

Remind her, if necessary, that one day (soon?) she will be old and infirm, and possibly need some help herself from her family. They love that.
