Toyota Yarris - Dodgey Brakes

A pal of mine had a really bad experience in a 2006 Toyota Yaris.
Apparently the footbrake completely failed with no pressure on the pedal at all. She was forced to stop by using the handbrake
. The RAC was called but they found no fault and told her that she must have pressed the clutch pedal by mistake
.
Anyway 10 more miles up the road exactly the same thing happened again. The car was taken to the Toyota dealer where again the fault miraculously disappeared – and they cannot find the cause at all.
Toyota have asked her to take the car back as they cannot find a fault with it.
Any ideas?
More to point what should she do with the car? She does not want to drive it and would feel bad about selling it to an unsuspecting buyer.
