our boiler packed up overnight. The chamber is purged, fan spins, but it doesn't ignite.

The problem is the APS or Air Flow Meter. The manufacturer are quoting £269 all in, labour, vat and parts to fix the problem or £299 to include a 12 month warranty.

Is that good value, and if they are fixing it with new parts, how can they not offer a 12 month warranty as standard?

Was I the only one who was expecting this to be about a large woman?

well ... as above really.

I can read the fault meaning that the APS or Air Flow Meter is not functioning.

I reckon the boiler is over 10 years old, and has the PCB board replaced last autumn FOC by Potterton.

They have a history of failing PCB's but they will not replace it again as it only came with 28 day cover.

APS will be under £50 if you do it yourself or call BG and ask for a "on call assistance" job- will be £140 (fixed price)for parts and labour and includes a annual service. (12 months warranty)
