Try Tim at ACT. I have had 2 centre (sports) boxes from them. JP manufacture them i think.
Good quality.

In all honesty I opted for the standard not the sports. At the time I was commuting 150 odd miles and the standard had your head ringing for hours after. Hate to think what I would have been like with a sports....... EH? TWO O CLOCK DEAR.........

(this is not knocking it in any way I hasten to add wink )

Yes please matt. smile

I have had a quote of approx £200 for the centre box from ACT, with £395 + VAT for the system.

I spoke with TVR car parts, and they would need the rear exhaust section to fabricate a copy. The SEAC goes under the suspension rather than up & over like the 400.
I do need to change the rear section as it's fairly rusty, it would mean taking the car off road until new exhaust is made?

Decisions decisions...scratchchin

Phoned up tvr car parts for price of a s/s sport box for 350i [£210+vat].Suggested by Matt, is there a big difference between the standard and the sport box.[Honestly].

Aye, personal choice at the time. Not saying do not do it (certainly up to the owner and not being a stick in the mud wink ) and if it was not the long commute (and keeping the locals happy) at the time I may have gone the sports way. It was actually louder than the mild steel and a different timbre to the old I fancied. Certainly listening to it on the RR at BBWF it certainly ain't no shrinking violet.

Anyway, about your carpets?

A 'mod' i have noticed before.. Didn't Karls (previously owned) SEAC have side pipes?
I'm sure i've seen them again on another wedge, poss another SEAC?
Was it Nacnud?

I'll be keeping the original system tbh. driving

I have been very happy with a stainless system made by P.D.Gough (advertise in Practical Classics) North of Nottingham. It was a replacement for the first system that rotted through after about 18 months.

The manifolds were replaced by them about 1 year later - happy with those as well.

They copied the original pipe-for-pipe and then added a sturdy scrape plate under the centre box - you could probably jack the whole car up on that!

Guaranteed fro the life of the car.

This is for a 1985 390 SE with a single centre system box and two sided rear boxes thet go over the drive-shafts, twin pipes exit through the rear spoiler.

No connection with PD Gough other than a satisfied customer 18-20 years ago.

Duncan Simy's blue 450 seac has side pipes each side and Karl's red seac had one large pipe on driver's side I think . Quite a complex job from what Karl said to me last year , he had a very able specialist do the job , if its not right it don't sound good and you have loss of power .

This is why i will be keeping it original, also not to keen on the hole that is left open in the rear bumper.

I will probably go with ACT, i've had exhausts from Tim before & they are quality products, also he doesn't need my old system to copy...which TVR Carparts do.

What do you have on your SEAC Steve?

Wayne , the system on this seac is standard with a recent silencer in the middle which I have altered to a repackable silencer ie can now remove the rockwool and refill with new packing or reduce the rockwool if needed , so she is a touch louder without being OTT ! Quite pleased with the sound really !
