have spoken to vw dealer and taking car in soon but just wondered if any other owners have encountered this and is this a fault with vw's in particular?

hi there, i also have a mk5 golf. My cars never done that but the drivers window does like to mess about. e.g. when using the one touch to put the window back up, it goes up a bit then goes all the way back to the bottom and the one touch is lost for a few seconds. Really annoying especially in the rain.

had you been playing with the remote and pressed the unlock button, as holding it down will open the windows

I've got an 06 Golf GTi and my drivers window has just started playing up. The one touch control to raise the window makes the window close and then automatically lower confused Then the one touch control doesn't work and I have to hold the button to ensure the window closes confused Also window doesn't alway lower completely, which is annoying. I'll be contacting my local VW dealer as car is still under warranty.

i had problem with mk4 golf and my dealer told me that they reprogramed the body computer so i did not have the function for windows up or down using my remote it had a glitch in the soft wear its easy for them to do as its a camand mode, and the windows messing around when your putting up and down is the anti pintch its getting stuck in the runners you need to get some silicon spray ie dash board silcon spray ect and spray it in the runners no need to take door card off just do it where you can see and that should sort it out to reprogram them to position take it to the top and hold the window button to the top for ten seconds and then back down thats telling the motor where the top is.

We,ve seen this problem with mark 5 golfs = the window rubbers and seals all need lubricating - don't know why but it stops them closing and then opening themseles again. Just use some silicone spray and be careful of the bodywork.

If you send your windows up, then hold the switch in the up position for 4 secs this could rectify this. Our A3 does this exact same thing intermittently.

My new A6 did this, mit was caused by an earth fault. But it can be caused by a faulty control unit.
