hi everyone,

havent posted for a while (have been lurking) but wanted to get the opinion of you Cerb owners out there

lets all be honest here - anyone who has ever been lucky enough to own a Cerbera will know how much of a pleaseure these cars really are to drive.

I've been fortunate enough to realise my dream and purchased one 2 1/2 years ago. during that time i've truley enjoyed ever minute of driving it, but my cirumstances have changed and I need to be honest with the rest of my family and sell the car. I've held off for as long as possible but due to an impending court date with Barclays Bank I need to sell. I told a dealer what I wanted for the car (which is reasonable) they argeed and have put a hefty mark up on it. I dont think there has been much interest (due to the current climate and I beleive the price)

the question I am asking is - do you think I am better offering it up for a private sale at the reduced price or hold out and hope the dealer sells it?

Cheers
Gareth

Maybe try and find a dealer who look abroad for buyers. When I was up at Fenchurch looking to buy they told me they'd sold several Griffiths to the Middle East in recent months, and a number to Europe as well.

Thats a nice looking Cerb! Try Private. Some Cerbs are not selling too quickly at the momment, but give the classifieds a try

Are you saying that a dealer is just displaying it on his forecourt for you? That you've agreed on £10k and he's marked it up at £15k, and when/if he sells it he will give you your £10k?? Surely you haven't done that? Have you?

But Gazm seemed to be implying that he still had the option of selling it privately, meaning the dealer hasnt actually bought it off him.

The Dealer must be laughing his socks off then smile Dealers buy a car cheap because they take the risk that they willl sell it, and make money. In this case they are taking no risk at all, but still expect to get the big mark up when, and if, it sells! If you still own the car, They should be selling it on a commision only basis!

If it is the one at Dream Machines, I think their 'commision' may be a bit high. smile

Sorry to hear you are letting her go.

Personally, I'd get along to as many car shows as you can, with for sale signs. At multi-model shows where there are only few TVR's they always attract a lot of interest and potential buyers.

Hi Gareth

Sad to see that you are selling her (I was the previous owner) - she is a great car. Like you, I only sold up because of my circumstances at the time. My dealings with the "dealer" were not as smooth as I had hoped when I sold it on to you (as you know).

My advice is to sell via both routes (privately and with dealer) if they are agreeable. If the price is low enough (and I could clear out the garage) I might be tempted!

Good luck

Its always sad when someone has to sell their car, when they clearly love it. More so, cos' lots of us could find ourselves in the same situation at some point!

But just going on from Buffoons suggestion of getting to a car show - you may like to know that Knebworth Classic Car Show is on this weekend and lots and lots of people go! (Including lots of TVR's so you'd be in good company! wink ).

It is on for two days, Sunday and Monday.

Good luck!

Other dealers advertise the fact they want to BUY Cerberas so pull it from the one it's currently with and sell it to one of them if you need the cash soon.

Advertise privately if you can wait a while.
