I know this has been asked before but apart from the foglight, speedo, is there anything else you need to do for the SVA i have contacted VOSA ans waiting for a reply.Cheers..
If you have any window tinting on the drivers and front passenger side windows it will have to be removed. Also make sure all visible wiring throughout car is tidy, run in looms, taped up and mounted/attached to supports (at least every 12in I think), and if any passes thru panels or bulkheads it must pass thru a rubber grommet.
There are specific measurements and location requirements for the mounting of the rear fog light aswell - from memory in centre or to right of centre of car, bottom of light must be >200mm off ground and must face 'square' to the rear, the foglight switch also needs to be illuminated when on. These are things I was picked up on and had to correct when I imported my (now ex) VYII Clubby. Also failed on edges of exhaust pipe outlets 'sharp edges' has to have minimum radius of 3mm - stupid I know, but they also failed the knob on the top of the radio aerial for same reason had to 'round it off' with a file.
Contrary to above, I think the fog light is an MOT requirement, except they don't check the details that VOSA do, but you will fail MOT if it doesn't work. Others, and myself, once thru the SVA with the 'ugly' addon light fitted, then remove it and have one of the reversing lights modded into a foglight.
Good Luck m8.
In my case, drove it to Leighton Buzzard testing station, stood and watched while they did their thing (about 45 min), if you pass- will give you a certificate, if not a list of things to correct, drove home. Fixed up things on list, made appointment for retest (no further cost, included in initial charge), drove back to LB, they retested only things that failed (about 10 min) got cert went home. Contact DVLA apply for plates and rego.
Pretty simple really.
As for tint, I think the requirement is for 70 or 90% light transmissivity (can't remember which), but Holden fitted 'Tint Conditioning' fails - they have some gizmo to test it.

Just get on to the VOSA web site, its all there in black and white. I also phoned my local test station and spoke to the guy who actually does the SVA's, and he was absolutley brilliant. He did the test for my vehicle within two weeks of my application ,no problems.Gassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
