Have tried multi protocol OBD2 diags on the car, doesn't communicate at all. Car not starting at all now no matter what i do..

replaced battery
immobiliser light turns off once button on key is pressed
all ignition lights come on as normal
NO FUEL PUMP, NO STARTER..
after 10 seconds, airbag light comes on and you get 3 ascending beeps from behind dash

Have run out of ideas now, I think car needs to go on a transporter to a specialist.

Can anyone recommend the best place to go in the south east? (i know honesty and fair costs are a rareity for garages these days, but that would be a nice extra)

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, hsv_sc.

Have you tried looking at the relays and fuses to see if every thing is ok?
Also keep in mind if the battery voltage is less than 11Volts nothing will happen as you describe.
The Air bag light indicates one of the airbags is at fault or has been disconnected and the ingnition turned on. The airbag light will not stop the car from running.

I've gone through all the fuses, relays appear ok as far as I can tell.

batt is ok, def over 11 volts when trying to start.

As far as I can tell, the BCM or PCM is not releasing the fuel pump / starter for some reason?

Sounds like an immobiliser system issue to me.

that's what i initially thought, any thoughts on what part would most likely need replacing in order to fix?

If it is you can disable it to test. The BCM pairs with the ECU to work together.
Have you tried a different key? Clean the barrel of the ignition and little button on the key tab.

Worse case ask a tuner to disable VATS as a test.

Sounds like the PCM is holding off both pump and starter, the only fuse for the starter is FS10 in the passenger compartment fuse box and for the fuel pump it is F28 in the engine compartment.

Do you have 2 keys for your car? I would try the other one if you have not already. Also does the key open the doors? Do you have an after market alarm that could be getting in the way?

But is the ecu even getting power ? Have you checked the large high amp fuses fitted to many modern cars ?

you have tried pulling the ecu out and whacking it (carefully whacking it) back in?

Nothing moveable in the ECU mate. All solid state. A whack will only be psychological smile

My original factory immobilizer module failed completely when driving at night (VT2), lost everything, engine cut out, headlights out, wipers off (it was raining) dash dead, power brakes and steering gone! all at about 70 mph.. in the dark.. not good. Had to have the car transported to LSV where Mark (now at rapid GB) fitted a new unit..all OK ever since. So it could be the immobilizer unit although it seems you still have most electrical functions live...give Mark a call at Rapid GB, he may have come across this before on the VT2 GTS-UK he used to have all the car specific details on the first few bought in by GIV.

try sending the ecu off to get repaired.. you might have to remove the immobilisor?? go to google and type in ecu doctor.. excellent bloke can fix all (most) ecu probs.. your not getting a signal from ecu to immobilisor. hope it helps.. i get this done a fair bit on all tyoes of ecu.

if your battery went flat and you jump started it it is possible that you erased the codes on the ecu.. happens on lots of french cars.. normally the ecu will not send a signal to the fuel pump, hence it will not work, but as for the starter motor not to sure, it may be on the same circuit.. try living up the wire on the fuel pump with a probe to a live with the ignition on and see what happens, it may work, and if the starter works it shows its on the same circuit.. hence it will be an ecu prob..

thanks for all the responses.. i've been advised this is definitely a fault with the factory immobiliser.
