I went to see The Dark Knight last night, very good film and all that. What's annoyed me is the amount of adverts they show at the start, it's worse than sky one primetime. I paid £7 a ticket and then got bombarded with about 20 adverts. These weren't trailers, just bad ads for bad products. Surely the revenue they get from these should pretty much pay for my tickets. I could turn up late, but I'd rather get a decent seat, is this the price I must pay?

I'm sure it never used to be like this, is it the same all over the country now?

No, I took in my own sweets, is that what made the adverts appear? I'll not make that mistake again.

When I went to see Black Knight for a 7:35pm start, got in to the screening at 7:30, any later and we wouldn't have got a seat anywhere. Then had to sit through 30minutes of adverts, trailers and spamverts for the overpriced popcorn, hotdogs and cola they sell. Then at 8:05pm the film eventually started.

None of the cinemas around here are able to project a crisp image.

The adverts are so bad they give me a migraine.

Quite a few near us.

Wycombe is all digital. Tuesdays is cheap night, so half price. (2 people £9.10) and you get to choose your seat.

So can roll up after some of the ad's just in time to catch the trailers.

Just buy a pack of Walkers and look at that - should be fine if you've got your specs on!

That's about it, 20:30 it opens. We get nice seats and after about 23 minutes of ads and 10 of trailers they turned on the lights and shut the curtains. Film started just before ten past nine.

The only bookable seats were premium which are right at the back and they leave low level lights on by the entrance which sort of gets on my petty nerves.

You got away with that?

One multiplex local to me search your bags (for recording equipment) and will remove sweets/drinks from you.

Scandalous.

Know those adverts about pirate DVDs?

"You lose the awesome quality, sound, and resolution!" <Image of a stupidly small grainy tinny preview of Fantastic Four>

I think pirate movies should do their own about cinemas!

"You lose the privacy and comfort of your own home" <Clip of chavs kicking seats, screaming and throwing popcorn>

"You lose the contents of your wallets" <Clip of paying £6 for a 'large' coke>

"You lose the ability to watch what you pay for" <clip of 30 minute crap-ads>

So, yeah. Who wouldn't pirate? Especially given the 'small grainy tinny' thing is a complete lie; unless you buy them from knock off nigel in the pub who saw the film himself and filmed it on his mobile.

I wonder if the movie companies realise it's the 20 year old reviewers they give the pre-release DVD to who're the culprits scratchchin

Peeeerfect quality; thank yoh!

Yeah, but I have a fear of pirates, they might plunder my dubloons if you know what I mean.

I like the latest one, which basically says "Don't pirate DVD's or you will make Wall-E sad". Perhaps I'm just cold hearted, but fk Wall-E hehe

Odeon Worcester "Shakeys Kebab House, just 2 minuites walk from here" All with the worst possible muzac in the background and pictures of badly stuffe kebabs.

Ah, fond memories, along with dobbing in the tt who had tried to deck me an hour before we went to the cinema. Saw him opening the fire exit to let his mates in (long before they had worked out it might be an idea to put an alarm on it!)

I normally stay in the bar having a pint and nibbles and wait for the conceige to come through and wisper in my ear "excuse me sir, if you'd like to take your drinks through your film is about to start" I then spend 2 hours flicking popcorn down on the poor people from my £15 seats hehewink

Sounds marvellous!

I like the ridiculous popcorn prices.

Small £2.90
Medium £3.10 (for 2x as much)
Large £3.30 (for 2x as much again)

Drinks are basically the same thing

And yes, Uxbridge Odeon will confiscate any food you bring in.

I went to the cinema last night and got bombarded with adverts for Vauxhalls and Peugeots. One of them just ended with what looked like a scanned in business card.

Add to that the fact that the cinema was rubbish anyway and I get better sound and picture quality at home I might just stick to DVDs. Waste of £6 that was.

This pisses me off and is the reason why I always sneak my own nibbles in. Shouldn't this fall foul of some rule/law/regulation or other? When I lived in Australia it was declared unenforceable, maybe we need the same thing here.
