Housing benifit.....

good evening gents.
On my return from work this afternoon, I opened all my post as usual. There was a letter from some council claiming that I owed them money due to over payment of housing benifit.
The letter was a final notice, stating that if i didn't make payment with in 7 days they would pass it over to bailiffs yada yada yada.
The only time i ever claimed housing benefit was for a few months when i was 17/18 and that was about 4/5 years ago when i was at/leaving college(can't remember the exact dates). I have lived in 4 different properties since and have never received anything despite paying council tax etc etc.
Personally; I want to see proof of the over payment before they see any of my money. The little jobsworth scrotum(they all are where I used to live), who I speak to on Tuesday will wish they had never been born!!
am i doing the right thing?
