Hi,

Getting conflicting information about the timing belt change interval for a Toledo I recently bought. One garage said it is 90,000 miles which is what it states in the maintenance booklet, but another garage has said it should be changed after 4 years irrespective of mileage.

It's a 2003 Toledo 1.9TDi 110 bhp.

Any advice appreciated thanks!

60k miles or 4 years whichever comes first.

If you do get the cambelt changed also get the waterpump changed at the same time.

Sorry to keep on about this topic, but I have now spoken to 2 different SEAT dealers and they insist that the interval for my car is either 90,000 miles or 9 years, so I am at a bit of a loss now since the independant is insisting it is 60k or 4 years like Cuprabob says.

Since I have a SEAT warranty for the next year, I may leave it till next year.

Just get the dealer to confirm the 90k miles / 9 years in writing and tht way if it does break while under warranty you can use it in your defence

Thanks, that was my thought too, since it's covered by warranty as long as I keep to the manufacturer servicing.

Once the warranty expires next year it'll be the first thing I get replaced!

An update to this topic, after the SEAT dealer confirmed it was 90k miles or 9 years, I then received a letter from them saying SEAT had revised the rules to 4 years rolleyes

Got it done last week at a VAG independant specialist, £220 for the belt and tensioner and £40 for the water pump (thanks for the advice Cuprabob thumbup) Total bill £260.

SEAT dealer quoted £250 (that incl. a special discount of £90 off) just for the belt - didn't ask how much extra for the water pump...I voted with my feet!
