Why do mealtimes go so weird on wedding days?

Normal day:

8.00am: Breakfast
1.00pm: Lunch
7.00pm: Dinner

Wedding day:

8.00: Breakfast
No lunch
4.00pm: 'Wedding breakfast' (actually dinner)
No supper

Why, people, why? If and when I get married we're going to have a proper dinner at the proper time. And lunch!

When you get married you'll have exactly what she tells you you're going to have.

I wouldn't make any predictions.

What about the "Buffet"

Or is that just a northern thang!

Simpo,

To be honest I'd not worry nor fret too much about when you eat.

You'll be flaffing around all day long chatting to all and sundry - so much so that the time will just fly by.

And yes - I know only TOO well that you are one of the most organised persons I know - but rest assured - it'll all just pass by.

My Polish wedding was superb in this (and all other) respect.

Normal breakfast
Normal lunch
Dress up for photos in studio ~3pm
Wedding ~5pm
Reception starts ~6pm
1st lot of hot food arrives at each table ~7pm
2nd lot of hot food arrives at each table ~8pm
3rd ~9pm
4th ~10pm
5th ~11pm

By about the 3rd lot of food I was too full to even entertain any further assaults on my stomache, although the food was superb and I was really upset at having to turn it away.

Tis supposed to be a proper meal, the first as a married couple, hence the breaking of the 'fast' laugh

I was very disappointed to find my wedding breakfast had no bacon or eggs in it!

<sigh>

Wedding breakfast - breaking the fast after the wedding, unless you take some popcorn with you in case you feel peckish I suppose.
