F360 Spider - questions
Discussion
OK, I've had it with Porsche. I've had a number of their cars and the last straw is a Cayenne that has flooded and they are taking no responsibility for (see Porsche forum on here if you want to know more).
So in an attempt to cheer myself up, I had a look around to see what sort of fun car I could get for a budget of about 60-70k. Lo an behold... I spot a number of F360 Spiders are now in that range. Now this is a car that could put a smile on my face!
So, before I start getting too excited about this, I wanted to ask some questions... if anyone can help me I'd be really grateful.
1. Is it really possible to use one of these for commuting? I'm thinking of 2 trips a week, 20 miles each way? Or is it really a car for just doing a little mileage at weekend?
2. What sort of costs should I expect to incur running the car? Servicing was always a concern of mine with F cars, and still is, but what about any other costs? Tyres, clutches, brakes? I'm not bothered about fuel or depreciation, and I accept that it's going to be expensive, I just wanted to get a handle on how expensive.
3. Does anyone do an extended warranty on one of these, including Ferrari? I don't want a massive hole in my pocket if the engine blows!
4. F1 paddle shift or manual? I've read that the F1 is 'glorious', but that the manual is 'sweeter'. I've also read that the F1 chews clutches! Anyone here have any experience?
5. What is the roof like? Is it good enough for a british winter, or would you really suggest sticking to the coupe in this country?
Many thanks,
Gary

Moved from a Porsche to a 360 spider 3 months ago. Use it as everyday car andcommute to work and back with no problems whatsoever. Have also blasted down to Monaco and back for the GP again with no problems. Car is a bit wider and a little more difficult to park, as the view out the back isnt as good and its got no parking sensors but I was crap at reverse parking anyway.
Attracts a lot more attention than the C4S thats for sure. Some of it unwelcome, its parked on the street in West London and has been keyed once, whereas the C4s went undamaged. But this is just bad luck I think and an unfortunate fact of life.
Roof was initially a worry for me as it was parked on the street and was worried about the rain, but its been completely watertight. No problems whatsoever.
Lancasters Colchester did preinspection and would have put an official warranty on for circa 2k. They are top quality (I have no ties there) and have fixed little niggles like door catches slipping etc.
Went for manual box, love the look of the chrome gate and its easier on the clutch.
Any other questions PM me. So glad I made the change: with the roof down, blasting along its awesome.

went f1 360 , hated it, f1 was crap in my mind, car felt breakable at all times, always had 911's after 6mts with the ferrari went back to porsche, much more useable, buy a old 308 to get the ferrari bug out of your head and use the 911 daily (have green gt3 rs at the moment "envy only comes in one colour) wouldnt have a F1 car if was half the price - felt it was the perfect hair dressers car !
