hi, i just bought a new bike kona stinky, i need to set the shocks to match my weight/riding style. I dont have special shock pump with guage. but i do have a foot pump with guage on it. can i use it to pump the shock with it?

No, you quite possibly wont be able to.

Foot pumps are high volume, low pressure.

Shock pumps are low volume, high pressure. You'll possibly be looking at 150+ psi in the rear shock, my foot pump certainly doesnt go this high, and its nowhere near accurate enough for setting shocks up.

Buy a shock pump.

You will also need to have it with you for tuning 'on the trail' , and theres no way I'd want to carry a foot pump round in my pack!

There not expensive, can get a shock pump for ~£15

Halfords do an excellant shock pump, which I picked up for 15GBP, I highly recommend you have a look at one of these.

oops i stand corrected. Didn't realise the pressure in shocks could be so high

My Halfords shock pump died after about 6 months..

If you shop around you can get a wrenchforce shock pump for £10.
