"7" style kit car wanted
Discussion
I am new to the kit car scene and looking to buy a car, gain advise on; what to buy/look out for/ avoid, etc.
Prefer a finished car, but would consider unfinished project.
I have a budget of about £5000 but could squeeze a bit more for the "right car".
Unfortunately at the moment I have both my arms and a leg in plaster which I am hoping to have removed on 12th September. If this happens I will then be able to seriously start looking at buying a car.
Cheers,
Dave.

Do not want to be negative about Robin Hoods, they have their place in the world. But at your budget you do not need to go there. Westfield and MK is where i would be looking. £6k gets you a ticket to Planet BEC... ;-0
* As i said on another post a friend is selling a very good PowerEngineering+ 1900 CVH Westfield for £4k .Just returned from a 2,000+ mile trip through the Alps so i can confirm it is quick / reliable. PM me if you want info.

I would be looking at something like this, you only have to look at their racing record to appreciate how good they are.
The most successful car ever in kit car racing IIRC.

Thank you to everybody for the advice.
A friend told me about "PistonHeads", and I can`t believe how friendly/helpful you all are towards a newbie/nugget like me!
Keeping my options open until I get plaster off my arms and leg in September.
I think its going to be a Westy, but I have also seen quite a nice Formula 27 which I could be tempted into buying.

I would second Pooh's suggestion, I have just sold my Striker and am sorry already, I am looking for a new car and my preference is for another Jeremy Philips design, my Striker embarrassed many a more expensive car (Westfield and Caterham mainly) on sprints and hillclimbs.
Great handling and lighter than most other 7 style cars.

Intrested, if im not too late. Also interested this thread basicaly said "Older Westy or an MK" for the Budget.
- Ive spent two years look at geting a seven, budget around £4k, and have just turned the corner where im ready to actaully buy a car, and im looking at... older westys and MKs. Visted my first one on saturday, got another lined up tonight.
Been looking mainly on pistonheads classifieds. Altough if anyone else has any idea where i can find a few more (preferably within the midlands) let em know.
Deffonarlty consider a tidy pinto/xcrossflow/cvh/etc Or an early zetec or redtop.
