Racing a 3000S in Classics?
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Open to tips and mods for racing a TVR 3000S, M or Taimar - assuming a solid car to begin with.
Have already reached out to Adrian Venn and John Wade
Can't stroke but can bore to 6 thou, carbs free, manifolds and zorts free and cams/top end free bar fitting multivalve etc.
Tips then on engine, carbs, cams, brakes, chassis,
Any geo or suspension mods that work well
Cheers
Jon

Thanks for the offer;
racing locally in Scotland (smrc) and I prefer mix-marque racing anyway. Single marque racing just gets expensive imo as you look for ever drecreasing margins to beat similiar spec cars. Also travelling south every weekend become an expense in itself tho would be interested popping down for a few invitationals if they were open.
When racing local I can also turn up and drive, I hate trailers..
Track only about 20 mins away.
Also I'm going to keep the car reltivaly flexible between road use and racing sth with adjustable set-up to allow a bit of tweaking. A compromise - again not sth you can do in single marque cars if they are more focussed.
Racing 911 3.0SCs and tuned 240Zs so a little outgunned in the 2 litre above cat. Researcing what set-up I can run and what output is achievable and reliable.
Cheers

Seeing as HP is the worst way to make your car go faster (unless it's snetterton or similar ..) and your car will be road biased I'd say go for some really good chassis work and have a relatively good but not balls-out engine. You'll not miss 20-30 top end hp as much as 5mph through a corner.
pre-79 series
KH a bit like Cadwell/Croft - you need a good balance of power and handling - enough straights and real torque-fest 2nd gear bends then straight
911s out of the box competitive, 240z close and a 3000M or S wouldn't be too far off.
Actually looking at a very nice GT6 for sale - good engine and proven winner.
Cheers chaps
