Does anyone on here know where I can get a set of stainless steel wheel nuts for a Cerbera? I've just had my 17" RL7s refurbished and they really look the business, but the original bolts have the chrome flaking off them. Alternatively can anyone recommend somewhere to get my originals re-chromed?

Once sorted I will have a set of SP12s in anthracite with virtually new Proxes T1Rs to shift in a few weeks time. Where would people recommend selling, classifieds on here, or e-bay?

You probably won't find anyone selling genuine stainless steel wheel nuts. Stainless steel is not usually suitable for highly stressed applications.

Thanks Kojak, this is exactly what I was after. I'm not sure about the highly stressed comments, I've seen stainless used for nuts and bolts in military and marine applications. I don't know enough to argue this, but are wheel nuts that highly stressed?

Govest, as you're Newbury based.

Where did you get your wheels done and what was the rough cost as mine also need doing. The paint is flaking and water is getting underneath.

Also, why the return to 17's from SP12's? Most people go the other way

Lepsons in Swindon on the recommendation of Neil Garner in Malmesbury. They are at 7 Callenders, Paddington Drive, SN5 7YW, 01793 887222, less that five minutes from J16. They charged me £50+VAT per wheel and also supplied and fitted a set of Proxes T1Rs for £408 including VAT.

It must be age, the main reason is I like the classic look of the original car. I think the SP's with 35 section tyres are more of a track and good quality road setup, there is barely an inch of tyre wall between the rim and the road on the fronts. 40 section on 17's should be better suited to the quality of Newbury District Council's roads.

Cheers - no more than 5 mins from home biggrin

I know what you mean about Newbury roads. Luckily they are digging up and replacing the whole of Turnpike road soon.

You're welcome to have a look at the wheels if you are passing.

I got the Chromed ones off ebay, they are the same as the Jeep which are 1/2 UNF and cost me £32 all in, when fitted they look the same as the Shinny nuts, which I am told he does not make any more due to the high cost of Stainless now.

Did someone mention Newbury! I've always had my wheels shotblasted and powdercoated at AC Shotblasting (behind my mates Bodyshop, "Quartz" on Hambridge lane) as you can get em done any colour for £120 for 4. I wanted my Spiders painted metallic black though due to the finish of powdercoating not being what I was after. Picking em up on thursday, cost me £40 for the blasting and £200 for the painting but should look ace.
I love Newbury, great place to live in my opinion, and yeh, need some shiny bolts to go with em now! You tried Unimaster in Bone Lnae?

OK quick update. The wheels went in yesterday and I picked them up today. Really nice job done on them considering they were very corroded on the inside face and on the inside rim.

Worth a recommendation if anyone is local. The guy is a really nice bloke as well, drives a v8 esprit biggrin

For non-rusting and high performance applications however, they would make titanium items.
I was going to ask/mention Titanium, anyone know of off-the-shelf Ti nuts?
