I very nearly felt sorry for the folk at V last week, as I live just 7 miles away, and I know my house had 12 solid hours of monsoonal rain on Saturday night....... biggrin

Respect due to The Killers, they are doing Shadowplay, a brilliant Joy Division song. Well done. They just reduced the original intro by about 2mins, but I will forgive them that.

My daughter is at Reading and is probably so pissed she won't worry about a bit of rain. I do however expect a phone call on Monday when her car is bogged down in a field.

I was making the same treck in the pissing down rain from the JJB tent to the green camping field. All was going fine until I tripped and ended up face down in the mud (atleast I hope it was mud!!)

As an old git, I'm just stunned by how much they are paying to get in!!!

That's the way, I suppose, now that music festivals have become fashionable.

The last time I went to Reading, me and some mates chipped in to hire a caravan. This was a great move as the weather was terrible, and our 5 star accommodation was a hit with the laydeez.

I went in 1999 and for a few years after that, it seemed to go up by around £10 each year. The single day tickets are now more than I paid to go to the whole weekend, including the train to get there!

I went from '78 to '83 and paid about £15.
I know at 'V' in Chelmsford you can't get in until the festival starts, but we used to set off for Reading on the Wednesday lunchtime, arriving that afternoon to begin drinking in time for a Friday lunchtime start for the music.

Anyone old enough to be interested, THIS is a great site...

Oh, this is me, in an Undertones T-Shirt, enjoying a traditional Reading Breakfast:
Special Brew and Paracetamol

Can't help but notice the small gas cloud behind you!

That Special Brew is evil stuff. hehe

ETA- It does explain the rather satisfied look on your face, though. hehe

I've been able to hear the festival from my back garden!

It's going to be a bit soggy there this morning, it rained pretty much all night.

Some cracking memories there!thumbup

And loads of bands I didn't realise I'd seen. Seem to have missed most of the headliners at the festivals I went to. I always regret never having seen Thin Lizzy, but apparently I saw them at Reading in '77. And I passed out through Zep at Knebworth.
Gotta love the old Tramp Juice!
