Wandering around John Lewis with wifey today. She was fancying one of those Red food mixers http://www.johnlewis.com/230172060/Product.aspx

Did a bit of research and they appear to be around the $260 mark in the states which is a bloody site cheaper than £349 for the same thing.

Seriously considering doing a supermarket sweep in Boston or somewhere mixing it up a bit with a short break.

Now apart from the obvious power difference (presumably you can get a converter?) and getting the bloody thing in the suitcase wot other issues would there be in doing this???

Keep an eye out for any potential import duties/taxation as you are importing to UK. Also, though I'm sure you could get a 240v to 110v converter, you'd need to be careful not to plug it in elsewhere redface

Don't do it, the convertor would be a pain in the arse and you'll get hit for 22.5% VAT/import duty if you're caught.

Um, personal import limit of £250 Duty Free?

Of course its worth it, and legit.

Having said that, I strolled through the Green Channel with £1000 worth of 19" wheels on a trolley, and not an eye was batted by the Customs Officers.

Having the wrong plug on the end would probably help not plugging it in just anywhere, eh?

There are companies in the States that will forward on your purchase to the Uk, especially useful for companies that don't ship to the Uk and need a US address to deliver.

Just watch out for the duty.
