The Parents are going off away at the end of the year and are getting an early (6am check in) flight, requiring an overnight stay at Heathrow. They are going with friends and it's meant to be a present of sorts.

They're looking for somewhere nice to have a meal around there in the evening when they arrive, but can't seem to find anything. I've suggested perhaps stopping on the way up (they're coming from Dorset, so M3 corridor or M4 East of the A34). However this isn't really ideal.

Does anyone have any recommendations around Heathrow, Staines etc.

What sort of food are they looking for? I live in Hounslow which is around 20mins away from Heathrow.

If you want Indian food then there are a couple of really nicely done places that have recently opened.

http://www.mantradining.com/ - Quite funky looking place.

http://www.urbanspice.co.uk/home.htm - The most recent opening and very nice decor. Food is pretty good as well, but be aware that they don't open on Mondays.

There is another place called Ashiana down the road from Urban Spice which is again nicely done but the food is a bit poor,

Really, I have always thought Windsor was a bit poor for decent places, what do you recommend?

The main car parks most nights are packed out! Its a nice, clean well kept area with a classy look.

I worked for a company in Slough for a short while & pretty much any team xmas do/leaving/celebration event was there as CEO/directors were used to the finer things in life so Slough was out lol

Windsor's area of interest is very compact- its a small square with restraunts around it and streets going off it If you google around you should come across restraunt reviews etc.

If you see this link, the square block of building made up of thames avenue/thames street etc is the central area. There is a Italian place ( http://www.lataverna.co.uk/ ) we went to twice , good service and food, has a mainly middle/elderly aged classy clientel (we were the loud bunch lol) so parents will love it. Thai Square was another I went to and again nice atmosphere and good thai food although only went once. Normal pubs and nice bars such as Brown's are nearby (Brown's in pic is just where top River st label is (you can see the parasols).

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&ge...

Note: Not cheap to park in main car park and no change machine so take coins, and dont overstay clamping in force (as I found out!!). if you drive around cheaper/free parking exists. The lake in the pic looks muddy but its a pleaseant area with swans etc.

Oddly enough - years ago the Chinese restaurant in the Forte Crest next to Heathrow used to be OK. So one could stay the night there and get a decent meal prior to an early morning flight.

Not super-gourmet-fantastic or anything -just good, tasty and close to the airport.

The Pheasant - 2 minutes from the holiday Inn on the A4. Massive amounts of decent scoff.

Can't beat it for a late night burger! But I reckon the OP would come and hunt you down if he sent his parents there for a dinner date!

Depends what you mean by "decent" however if you want fair priced nice honest Italian food quite a few of us Thames Valley folk could recommend the below and it's only a short drive from Heathrow:

http://www.restaurantpunto.co.uk/

There are also lots of nice places to eat in Windsor but again it all depends on what you mean by "decent".
