LMA at Snet

A miserable wet qualifying session at 10.30am saw 2 Nobles on the front of the grid -Mal D on pole and Richard in second place with series leader Nick Williamson in third. A long wait then till the race which started in dry warm conditions at 5.05pm. Chris and I went up to Turn 1 which promised to be exciting for the start, and so it was! Lights out and Richard on the outside line closed in on Mal with Nick in his monster 4 wheel drive Cosworth Escort tucked right up under Mals exhaust pipes. Through Riches like this and then Richard went round Mal at Sears with the Cosworth taking Mal on the inside. After a couple of laps the Cosworth snuck past Richard at Bomb Hole leaving a ding dong battle between the Nobles for the 2nd and 3rd places. A Rizler seperated them for for about half the race, with 4th place man, Rex in his very quick Exige just waiting for one of the Nobles to fall off. And so it did. Mal finally got through and Richard just got on the power a little too early out of Russells and ended up backwards on the grass. However by the time this happened these 4 cars were about a lap ahead of everyone else - so Richard got back on track and finished 4th. Fantastic racing - just as it should be, hard, clean and exciting. Well done, Richard.
I was going to take some movie footage of the start, but as I saw the cars come round I started waving and shouting and only managed to get a couple of secs worth of grass and feet. I'm sure Richard will put up some in-car footage on his blog in due course.

Sounds like a top race. I'm gutted i couldn't make it to show some Noble support.

Fantastic result Richard, rivaling Mal Davidson in only your first real season. Mal has many years under his belt and is a top man driver, what you've acheived is bl**dy brilliant.

All, thanks for the support. It sounds corny but good racing can't be acheived without help from a good team and particular thanks goes to Yellowshed who wasn't feeling that well but single handedly assisted with the car setup and driver coaching on the Friday test day and got me braking later.

I'll post up a race report on the blog maybe this evening (I'll probably nick yours Rob) and some video footage in due course; this time the bullet cam was facing the rear window and Adrian new super-dooper-HD-solid-state camcorder was mounted on the front of the rollcage. I've checked the rear camera footage which looks and sounds pretty good so Adrian, can you let me have a copy of the video and I'll try and combine the two.

A quick question - can anyone recommend a free programme for combining the videos into one picture in picture video?

Try Pinnacle Studio, it is easy to use and has 'picture in picture' feature that you are after!

I tend to use adobe premiere pro. Its not free but it is if you know what I mean. I think I still have the disc around if you want me to post you a copy
