Thinking of buying a Boxster. Has anyone had the front passenger airbag decommissioned and fitted a child's car seat? We have a Britax freeway that fitted in the back of our Cerbera perfectly. Anyone done this or got any thoughts on the matter? Any help appreciated as I am a porsche virgin! Thanks.

I had the recaro start seat but had to buy an airbag deactivation unit and have it fitted under passenger seat and buy the Porsche seat - total cost £200.

The seat has a male seatbelt connection on the bottom which plugs into the female connection under the seat - this deactivates the airbags on the passenger side only.

Hope this helps

Good luck with that one - I imagine that a Cerbera is not an easy car to part with.

Tell him you will spend less time on the hard shoulder! LOL!

I managed to persuade my wife that it was a good idea to swap our BMW estate for the Boxster.

Her Impreza is now the family car!

Cheers

Had the deactivation unit fitted to allow me to use the Porsche prince car seat in my boxster. Total cost was approx £300 of which 200 was for the deactivation unit, seat itself only cost £100.

Well worth going for the proper porsche seat IMHO, when you plug the connector (male seat belt plug) in you get a reassuring flashing airbag light for 60 secs so you know the airbag has been deactivated.
