I thought I would post up some photographs of my 1994 Classic mini cooper

Introducing Mr Monty and his bum restoring topic.

Here is Monty when I first bought him...

and how he is now....

Last August someone drove into the back of me, and wrote off my Monty mini. However I bought him back and paid for him to be repaired. I have spent a lot of money on him, reparing him and making him look pretty smile

Lots of thanks to my boyfriend too as he has done a lot of work on this mini

There was damage to the following:

Rear bumper
Rear RH light
Boot lid
Rear valance
Boot floor

It doesnt look too bad in the photographs, and if you see it in person you can see clearer that it has completely wiped the boot from the boot floor! It was a little rusty there so that might not have helped with the strength. However now it has a rust free bottom biggrin

I purchased all the parts, plus some extra sexy parts, and sent him off to mini hospital.

Pat and Faz who fixed him provded me with photographs and updates of his progress

Off to mini hospital, and slowly clearing my front garden of the car park it had become!!

Progress Photographs

ARE YOU READY?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here we go....

Poor Monty baby...

And so it begins....

There was more damage to the boot floor than first originally thought, but they cut it in and replaced part of it.

Looking a bit more like a mini...

And finally...Monty looking like Monty.

Very cool looking Mini, now I'm really looking forward to painting mine black smile

You may need to put some black tape through the race numbers though as I think it may invalidate your insurance?

Liking the boot job though smile

However, if you are involved in proper motor sport, then you can have your competition licence taken away for driving with race or rally numbers on a public road other than during the road sections of a rally.
I always remove my comp numbers at the finish if driving home on the public road (as opposed to having the car return on a trailer).
You can always tell that a person with door numbers on a public road is not an actual motorsports person.
So, what do such numbers signify - answers on a postcard please!

pete is correct

its a msa requirment, and you could (i guess) have your msa licence docked if caught

i think it started from when road rallies where more popular and the msa/police wanted to clamp down on illegal road rallies

i think also that if the police caught you 'racing' another car on the roads and where pulled, and you had numbers, and you held a msa licence then the book would be thrown at you!

if you dont have a msa licence and are not competing than i guess it doesnt really matter

edit, blue book reg 11.3.11.competition numbers

......any means of identifying individual cars during a competition MUST be removed at the finsih of the event......

10.1 numbers

....any means of id fixed for the competition must be removed when a competitor retires, is excluded or on the completion of the event......

so they are, theres a really good rhyme to remember which way they go round, buts its rude!

women on top, tits are right, then the slots are left (ahem)

so,

its the left hand side shoe thats upside down, as its 'tit' shape is at the top!

smile

Rich are you back on the medification ?

Oh n your wrong its the rh(in the photo) or the rear one thats upside down.
Also looks like one of the wedges is missing from the adjuster - but that could just be a bad pic.
