Went to York Raceway today with jimb0. My aim was to run either 13 seconds or 100mph, managed to bag both!!
Not quite Top Fuel, but for a standard 5.7 vxr I was well chuffed!!!
The other car was a Subaru WR1. If I hadn't had a picnic while waiting for the lights I'd have beaten him

seems a good time but goes to show these are heavy beasts
my 200sx with 260bhp managed a 13.1 and my mates with 290bhp a 12.9 again not top fuel but was happy. The Monaro must be hard to launch as its easily loads faster than my 200sx in a straight line

Is that reaction time taken into account in the 1/4 mile time? So you could easily improve to the Subaru's level if it is?
I'm not an expert but don't think so.
The reaction is seperate to the timing from the point you cross the timing beam. I have seen guys take their time, letting the other car go and then have the track and audience to themselves.

There is clearly a serious error on the Subarus timing slip.
Either that, or it took forever to cover the first 60feet....then took off like a bullet, only to slow down again lol
Congrats on the 13/100+ though, very good for a standard car !!!
It took me a while to figure the 60 ft time out. At York, the left lane recoreds the 60 foot time, the right lane records the 0-60mph time.Either that, or it took forever to cover the first 60feet....then took off like a bullet, only to slow down again lol
Congrats on the 13/100+ though, very good for a standard car !!!
My best 0-60 was 5.62 seconds!

the time doesnt start until you break the beams i used to wait a second so as not to get caught up in the lights. it does mean the other car crosses before you sometimes but your time reflects your faster.

Proberbly would. Your reaction time was'nt great. Last time i did the 1/4 i got a .08 Just luck i'm sure but all the same damn good. Great time though

Unless York has some amazing timing gear....it is impossible to determine 0-60mph using fixed beams as drag strips do.
In car timing devices can be pretty accurate as well. There are some good ones around. I just have a cheapo G-Tech, but not bad for performance testing on "private roads"
Does 0-60, gforce, 1/4 mile, trap speeds, ET etc. Usually only a hundred squid or so. I think the Gtech is supposed to be accurate to 0.2sec or something. The newer ones can even do BHP if you put in the weight and it can read RPM's from your car.

I was watching 5th gear the other day and noticed the woman using a race logic system to determined 0-60 30-70 and so on. Are they the main one to use and if yes are they expensive?

Have a chat with wortec they got me mine. I have the racelogic performance box.
Witch is gps based data logger. Its accurate to + or - 0.1 km/h. Or have a look at www.performancebox.co.uk
