i just wondered does anyone know the 1/4 mile time for a GT3

and please please please, b4 anyone says "it a track car" and "lotus dont build the car for straight line speed", its a innocent question, because i am looking into this new 5th gear replacement and having nos fitted to push the revs round in 5th.

so any standard times would be great, thankyou ppl

Karl,

Take a look at the site "Quarter mile rivals":

1/4 mile times should have no bearing on 5th gear since that upgrade has no bearing on 1st through 4th. You will barely get into 4th as it is at the end of the 1/4. I don't think you'll need that shot of NOS for 5th either but that is up to you.

As far as times... in the hands of a skilled driver, I know of a couple guys who have gotten low 13/high 12 second passes in the S4s and mid 13/high 13 second passes in the S4. Your results may vary depending on skill and how you drive it.

i can use nos in 2nd through to 4th though, 75bhp shot should bring me down a second on 1/4 i hope

A 75 shot is a pretty big shot for a stock 4 cylinder. At that point, I'd be careful of running lean and blowing the motor, breaking tranny parts, slipping clutches, the list goes on.

You plan on doing other mods first, right? Injectors, upgrade/custom ECU chip, free up the exhaust flow, etc etc...

On an SE you may temporarily remove the boost restriction program. While at a stop floor the gas and the next WOT the boost will go past 1 bar for a several seconds. This ignition program is here to validate the 0-60 and 0-100 times for testing and documentation purposes. It should not be done often.

On a GT3, the boost is raised from 0.75 to 0.84 bar ( i.e. 5000 rpm at rest ) With a chip from Marcus, you get 1.0 bar at WOT and 1.2 bar at WOT if you override the limit.

13.67, but that was before the chip (now 330BHP) and with a broken chargecooler pump, no de-cat pipe, and a clutch in not the best order.

carbon fibre induction kit, de-cat pipe, getting fitted shortly

Cheers

Hey,

Be one with the realization that you already do! Even if he were to beat you, he's driving home in an Evo! Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

What was your MPH on that run?
WHat was your shifts like? Like you stole it or easy?

101 MPH at the 1/4 Mile and terminal velocity of 146 at the end of the runway. I did one run like ya stole it and then another 2 taking it easy and taking my mates up with me so slower.

However, it interesting to notes that I came 13th out of 50 cars, mine was standard "out of the box" except for a K&N air filter and was down on power due to the C/C pump not working. I was the only non jap car there and all were modified. There were blown up ricers all over the shop by the end of the day. One R34 blew both turbos, 200sx's smoking by the gate getting picked up on low loaders :-) My friend has spent a fortune on his skyline and recently did a 11.55 1/4. However, I can still go round corners faster :-) Its running circa 600BHP and he runs a company importing jap performance parts so was there to promote business mainly.

I felt that I did a good job as after my run I had a few people say that the car did much better than they expected for an old lotus etc etc.. Most people just asked how much the tyres were as I think I had the widest rears on the day :-)

good on ya matey, show the rice rockets up i say (ssshhh dont tell the misses she has 300bhp scooby wagon lol), and lotusguy your right at the end of the day i have a lotus HA HA HA HA, i side by sided him on a road (private of course ) and we were doing about 60mph and then said "go" he jumped ahead by half a car, but didnt go any further at all (mmmmm jump start me thinks) and got to 150mph then i went past i was reading 170mph, but he claims he broke thats why, and as usual its the old "i beat a lotus" story

this is why i dont want to go to a strip becuse i will just get idiots in done up cars they have thrown the bank at, and claim "oh i beat him" blah blah, well of course they did, there in a nova with 2 F1 engines in it, and claim its still a nova

i guess you can see i get wound up about it LMAO LMAO LMAO

(oh the evo was stage 1, hks zorst, hks filter and other bits so not standard, and its book speed kills the GT3 supposidily)

I think someone on this board ran a 13.5x@105 in his S4s chipped S4. I guess a working CC pump would help you come close to that. Driving the absolute piss out of it would get a lower ET, but the MPH stays somewhat the same. MPH is a good way to estimate power. ET has more to do with driving, i.e. traction, shift points, etc. 101MPH will hang with most common cars. 105MPH will hang with most performance cars. Now that you are on the 330BHP chip and have a working CC pump, I think you should be close to the 110MPH mark.

Seems to me like you met the good people at the track. there are 2 crowds of car people. The good, who are there for the love of cars, no matter what you drive. The bad, whose poop don't stink and all cars suck but there own whether they run 20 seconds or 10. Looks like you were there with the good.

I am curious to take mine to the track but since I already have a track car to break, I don't feel the need to entertain that curiosity. I know it feels faster than my 1996 Eclipse GSX, which it replaced, and that ran 13.3@104 with my pitiful driving so I am happy with just feeling fast.

Way back in '95 the guys at Car&Driver ran 13.0@108 in an S4s. 4.4 0-60. They also wrecked 2nd gear at some point during their test.
