Lamborghini Jalpa. Why aren't they selling?
Discussion
Noticed that there are 4 seperate Jalpas on Pistonheads for sale.
Carlo at Top Gear has his on sale at under £15k. Others are up to twice that.
This was a serious rival to the Ferrari 328 when it was in production.
surely it's rarity should guarantee it's popularity.
Anyone on here, got one?

My guess is the fear of the "Lamborghini repair bill" factor!
I met a Jalpa owner who had spent £12-18k after buying his car (including a rebuild!)
I'm not saying things HAVE to cost stereotypical Lamborghini money - but for the uninitiated, it's the perception thereof.
Maybe those who can just about afford the car probably feel they can't afford to run it?
Those who know they can comfortably afford to run the car might well be looking at more expensive models? (C/D/M/G etc)

A few reasons why not so popular when new (and also apply now):
- Lamborghini was short of development funds at the time so the car was heavily based on the Silhouette albeit with enlarged engine and strengthening to chassis
- chassis strengthening added considerable weight which blunted performance compared to rivals
- car was not as 'pretty' as 308 or indeed the Silhouette (IMO having owned one) and had poor ergonomics
Having said that I still like them but would need to fit the Silhouette alloys to transform the looks.
