Hi, I currently have a HDMI cable linking my XBOX to my TV, but to reduce the possability of future arguments i'd like to hook it up to a LCD monitor useing a vga cable, Does anyone else do this and is the picture ok?

Thank you.

Picture is fine on mine, won't be quite as good as HDMi but then you have to really be looking at them side by side to notice much difference.

Just a couple of points though...

  • Make sure you set the resolution of the vga out to your TV's native resolution for the best image quality. My TV is a samsung 720p with a native res of 1360x768.
  • Also a new option appears in the display settings called Reference Levels, this sets the black level which is sent through vga. You will probably need to set this to Expanded.
Enjoy your vga gaming!

I use VGA, works fine on both PC lcd monitor and plasma TV. I have 2, an official one and some madcatz cheapo one, the picture quality in the cheapo one is a bit rubbish though (ghosting mostly).

I run my xbox through a VGA cable, via a KVM switch into my 19" Samsung LCD monitor.

Picture quality is more than fine, very good in fact although I am in the process of converting where the PC/xbox is into a family room and will soon be running it through HDMI to a 32" LCD.

Had the VGA on my old 42" LCD, no problems.
New 42" LCD has more HDMI slots, only reason I changed.
