Virgin Premium Economy is most certainly NOT business class.

Virgin Upper Class is their business and first class combined from what I understand.

I've just booked Business Class from Heathrow to Auckland with Singapore Airlines through a company called Travel Nation.

http://www.travel-nation.co.uk

I dealt with a woman called Jackie who was very helpful.

Reccomended by a guy from PH whom I am yet to thank.

IMHO Virgin are a shower of st.

A lot of the big carriers (like Virgin and BA) 'guarantee' that the price on their own websites is cheaper than you can buy anywhere else

Flight centre have found me some corking deals in the past. Also check swiss air, they have better value than most.

If you're prepared to get a quick flight to Frankfurt or Schipol you can get Business class for a lot less than going from LHR

As someone who flys transatlantic a LOT in business class (on BA, not virgin), premium economy is most definitely not business class- either on virgin or BA (who are one of the few airlines to have premium economy). What it is is an enhanced economy (duuh) which has got a load more legroom, generally a lot quieter and less chavinfested and more comfortable. It is no flat bed though- massive difference.

You can get business class cheaper , but it still wont be cheap- Certainly not less than 4 figures for even the cheapest advance, non changeable/non refundable tickets even in a sale.

Perhaps consider using frequent flier miles to purchase (unfortunately plus taxes) or upgrade from premium economy to business using miles if you want to fly in or near the pointy end in comfort.

try having a look at www.flyertalk.com/forum... for all your geeky plane related needs biggrin

Be warned though, you get very used to flying at the front of the plane....

On holiday routes (Havana/Miami/Orlando etc) Virgin PE does tend to be extremely chav infested. They all think they are upgrading to business rolleyes

He couldn't afford to go Upper Class.

I can't rate them highly enough, but then I don't pay for my travel....

Premium Economy is just that -> Economy

I use it occasionaly just because its quieter and a smaller cabin

The PE section is in the bubble on VA 747's. It's 'almost' like having a private plane a floor above the cattle.

As people have said, Virgin PE is just a slightly better version of Economy. I flew out to Washington last year PE and returned economy and to be honest there wasn't much of a difference really. PE has larger seats, more legroom, proper cutlery, china plates, etc and champagne on boarding but that's about it.

It only cost me £60 to upgrade on the outbound journey but they wanted double that on the return journey. From what I've read elsewhere upgrading to PE isn't really worth it unless it's below about 15% of your ticket price.

Sorry about drifting a little OT there smile
