I run an '88 3.2 Carrera with linen leather. The seats etc are in good nick, but the carpet is dirty and worn. Instead of just replacing the carpet, I'm contemplating removing the back seats & belts, changing the door cards for RS items, recarpeting in a dark colour and fitting a pair of Recaro SPG's (or similar)to give me the headroom I lack. Has anyone done a similar job ? I'd like to retain electric windows and speaker apertures in the doors, is this possible with RS door cards ? Any advice or pictures of similar work greatly appreciated.

I am sure it is possible, although the RS door cards would need the window handle holes blanking off. I have speakers in my RS door cards.

You can get carpet sets, but check the pattern as they have could some funny cut outs. A 964RS set should fit. See Southbound.

Biggest weight loss can be acheived by removing the bellows-style bumpers and replacing with lighter GRP units, or do a C2 conversion (need new rear lights as well to do that).

Good idea, and will improve the car IMO, but remember that at resale most people like original cars.

Thanks Domster - I should add that I would keep the linen interior so that the car could be returned to standard (with another new carpet set !) when I sell it. I'm not thinking of changing the bumpers at this stage, I think if I wanted to go that far I'd probably swap the car for a 964RS (hmmm, tempting)

Contact Simon Davidson at www.essential-styling.com. Does both C2 and early RS type bumpers and duck tail wing...

Despite above comments, my sentiments too -please don't do it.
