Games Room - possible ideas
Discussion
Ok, kids have flown nest, leaving me and wifey with 2 spare rooms. One has become the spare bedroom the other however has (through careful negotiation) become my room to do what I wish (within limits). After a number of false starts I (we) have decided to make this spare room a "games room", however I am not sure what would be worth squeezing into the room and what would at first be cool but after awhile pointless/unused.
So I am looking for suggestions or relating of anyone else that has tried to create a games room of their own. Dimensions of the room are the main limitations. The room is 12ft square - so a full size pool table is out. Other suggestions have been an arcade machine, darts board, bar, pole etc. however it would be good to hear some ideas/suggestions.
Cheers

Being the owner of a pinball machine, My biased view is that you need a pinball machine!
Immense fun, always a winner at parties, and the "right" machines go through cycles of becoming collectable in the right condition - so could be an appreciating asset!
Addams Family
Twilight Zone
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Dr Who (the 1992 machine)
All alarmingly addictive.

Something I've always wanted to do:
I'm assuming that the games room is upstairs as it had a previous life as a bedroom.
Get some real big timbers- 4x6". Use them to extend the floorboards outside by 10 feet or so (add lintel, RSJ or similar to outside wall to retain structural integrity). Get yourself a 1st floor conservatory!
Needs a clear floor too, obviously.

How about a slightly different direction?
Home cinema (really go to town with the set up), with a nice comfy sofa so you and the missus can both use it?
You can have a games consol plumbed in also, so mates can come round.
?????
ETA: I had a mate who did this and he even fixed sub woofers into the back of the sofa for extra effect.
