I've currently got a Nokia CK-7W hands free kit in the car but don't have the correct lead/cradle to fit my N95, the lead i have was for my old Nokia 6230i which has the old type connector on the bottom (n95 has mini usb connection), does anyone know of the lead i require which will allow me to connect my new phone to my existing hands free kit? Also are there any dediated cradles for the N95 8gb, the only ones i can see are clumsy universal things which i'm not too keen on.

Cheers

You cannot get the 'old style' connectors for the N95 - The only (Nokia) car kit that will work is the CK-7W which connects via bluetooth.

With regards to a cradle, I found one on Amazon (Can't find the exact one now) that allows the phone to slide in from the top and holds the power lead in place, so that the phone charges as soon as the car kit is switched on and the phone is in the cradle.

This appears to be a very similar one to the one I have http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nokia-Active-Holder-Tilt-S...

Thanks for the advice gents, been doing a bit of research and as you say appears it can only be connected via bluetooth, looks like i'll be aquiring a parrot bluetooth kit.

You don't need one - just connect the phone via Bluetooth to the CK-7W.

Cheers, i'll give it ago in the morning, the kits about 3 years old, will this make any difference?

No, it's the same age as mine, roughly.

Can't remember the pairing procedure, so hope you have the manual handy for it.

I was forced into buying a Parrot kit when I upgraded from a 6230i as Blackberries don't work very well with Nokia kits (you get huge amounts of echo on calls).

nokia have ditched the pop port , you car pair the phone to the kit via blue tooth , power it on search for devices with the handset and the code should be 0000 , if not check the idiot guide that came with the kit it will have a sticker on with the code , also you should have a little wheel with a button in the middle , thats your answer/end call button .

I have an N95 connected to a CK-7W. Press and hold the answer/end call button on the CK-7W until the LED flashes. Then search for the CK-7W on the N95. Passkey is 0000 as outlined above. Works beautifully for me and if I need to charge it, I just plug it into the cigarette lighter. When I'm working, my 6320i is in the cradle and active. Removing it switches to the N95 automatically.

the new ck-7w comes with the charge lead that plugs in where the pop port cable used to go , its how ever not backwards compatible , you also shouldnt need to press and hold the call answer button , just flick the ignition on wait untill teh light stops flashing on the kit and then search for devices on your handset

My mistake. I'd been told that put the cradle into 'searchable' mode.
