Diving Red Sea in October

For reasons that are long winded and dull youngest son and I didn't get our week diving this summer hols, so we've decided to go at October half term instead. We usually go to the Red Sea as it's easy for a week (minimal jet lag) relatively cheap and fantastic diving.

Has anyone here been in October? We've been to Sharm a few times and Marsa Alam, though I was looking at Oman online which seemed interesting. Mrs.S went with us 3 years ago but because she has a thyroid problem and difficulty maintaining body temp had a proper miserable time sat in the hotel room with a/c on full blast most of the week - would she be ok in Oct do you think?

Any input from people who have experience welcomed - ta.

Red sea will be 3-4mm wetsuit warm, Oman will be shorty minimal wetsuit you can find. Personally I'd say try Oman (infact I will be early Nov) if you pm me I'll happily let you have some contact details of a few Brit' expats out there who run a nice low key dive operation that you won't find in the guide books, they're some of the most experienced divers I know of and have all the right qualifications and kit but do it for the fun of it as they're all serving military working as "advisors" to sultans armed forces. IMO the red sea is getting a bit over dived now days, Muscat is certainly up and coming.

Oh yes and Oman may well be still too warm for your Mrs, my brothers wife and kids (2 year olds) go home to NZ for the summer and don't come back till October when it's starting to "cool" but that still means 30's, a few weeks ago when I spoke to him he'd been up in the villages and it had been 52! October is bearable heat but still hot.
