Secma F16 buggy/roadster
Discussion
Its not a kitcar but it could be in my opinion, a mid-engine buggy roadster with a Renault 1.6, 16v engine.
What do you guys think of the design and concept, it should be about 3.2m. long and 1.1m hign.

I love that car, not sure which category it fits into though, not a track day car or an off roader with out 4x4, not much luggage space, but very pleasing to the eye.
I like it too.....

I'm not sure about the dimensions anymore, some websites are quoting the car to be 2.75m. long...
., i wouldn't think so..........but.Will wait and see for the prototype to be shown at the Paris Motorshow.

I believe this could be a very interesting niche, for congested city centres in mainland Europe.
Wit its diminutive size, it has potential in urban area..
I've driven the earlier version many times and it's absoloutely leathal with the roof/doors on as there is Zero vision anywhere rearwards of the car and also to the sides. This new shape is a much more stylish shape but it's expensive for what it is and there's zero storage space, not even a glove box. It's most certainly not suitable as a town car.Wit its diminutive size, it has potential in urban area..
We did a video of it a couple of years ago it's a nice car to drive but there's no way I'd drive it in traffic on a daily basis it's too dangerous as there's no visibility

Here's the video we made if you are interested http://www.qdoscars.co.uk/pavillion.htm

Sylva Riot? Definitely cheaper, and given Jeremy's pedigree I'd bet it handles better to.
I like the Riot a lot, and I agree that it sure handles better than this F16, but maybe we should compare it to the Mojo, it having a screen and soft top option.Edited by fuoriserie on Wednesday 3rd September 09:15

You're right, visibility would have been my concern too, I wonder if the new side view windows are bigger than those found in the X-treme 500 ?
Not from what I've seen I'm sure it's the same roof/doors. We were looking at fitting cameras and a video display inside to try and make it safer to drivePlease look at www.secmaf16.co.uk . RHD version coming to the uk soon.
It is intersting the comment from Qdos but I have driven this vehicle on the track. Nealry all other vehicle built by SECMA have been based on Quadricycle legislation but this version is very different as it is M1 cat and handles like a dream. The vehicle is wider than the 500cc version, weighs 560kg's, 110 mph and 0-60 under 6 secs. The engine is a 1600cc Renault. This is not a buggy, it is a full blooded sports car. www.secmaf16.co.uk

Nice pictures, do you have dimensions of the F16 ?, wheelbase and all.....rhinochopig said:
Sorry but I just can't see the point. It's no looker, you can't build it yourself, it'll be slow, it may well handle well, but you could have a number of cheaper options that would be there or there abouts.
I hope they do well, but personally I can't see it.
Styling is subjective, maybe I like it because I love dune buggies.....but what I really like is the concept of a small mid-engine, just like the Riot, a light and simple sportscar.I hope they do well, but personally I can't see it.
I would have gone for a smaller capacity engine.....
In my opinion, kitcar manufacturers should investigate this niche, it could be the future in year 2010-12 ?
